It's a great lamp that looks more beautiful in person

Really wonderful lamp. A functional statement piece. Good price given how expensive it looks.
I honestly can't believe that I found a lamp like this on Amazon. I've had very little success with "pricier" lamps on AZ (pricier being relative to other lamps on Amazon). I've had more success with cheaper, minimalist, functional lamps from AZ and better success with decor-oriented lamps from pricier retailers. As this was on Vine, I took a gamble. I wasn't hopeful, as I'd ordered another "fancier" lamp from the Vine Program that was pretty bad. This one took longer to ship, but it was worth the wait. It looks like and is constructed similarly to higher-end lamps from high-end retailers. Lamps often go for a couple hundred dollars or more, whereas this one is listed (at the time of writing) at $99.99.This lamp is a statement piece with a sturdy, solid, and heavy cement base that's lightly coated/finished in black, and a fantastic smoky gray glass dome that is rippled and has some tiny bubbles here and there from the glassblowing process. The glass is suitably thick but not too heavy. It's thick enough not to be fragile, but I wouldn't drop it on a hard surface. That said, the base is heavy enough and the shape is such that I don't worry about this lamp tipping over. The cord is adequately long, and coated in fabric. The brightness/power rotary dial is simple and functional, and pretty big! It reminds me of dials on vintage lamps. The lamp was packed as securely as Fort Knox, so unpacking took the longest time during assembly (and was only 5-10 minutes). Once unpacked, assembly of the lamp itself was less than two minutes. Screw in the bulb, screw on the glass dome, plug in the lamp, and turn it on.It's worth reading the description in detail because this is an ambient, soft-glowing lamp. The smoky glass dome " dampens" (they use the word "dissipates") the adjustable brightness. This is not a "make the room bright" or "read using this lamp with the rest of the lights off." It's perfect for what I need - I keep it on 24/7 to provide some supporting light during the day, and give enough light to navigate at night. We keep the lamp close to a TV, and given the glass domes color and construction this lamp has no glare or visual spots that hurt the picture or anyones' eyes. The box calls this a "desk lamp" but, like the description and title on the product page infer, it looks good anywhere. It's big enough for side tables, buffets/credenzas, bookshelves, etc.Any "cons" or negatives of this lamp are minor. The one that comes to mind is that both the base and the dome are easy to smudge/mark, even with squeaky clean hands. They will pick up finger smudges very easily. That said, they are easy to clean as well. So once the lamp is set in place, it's easy to clean and requires minimal/no touching other than dusting (as the power dial is far enough away from the lamp). You'll also need to pull the stickers off the bulb, as the way the dome is shaped the bulb's base is always visible. This specific lamp is wonderful, and I will look more at Brightech for table lamps in the future. I'm not sure about Brightech's floor lamps, some of which get very mixed reviews, but the table lamps seem to be consistently positive.

Simple & Elegant Design... High-Quality Light...
This light was impressive right out of the box! The... umm... not sure what you would call the way the glass globe is. It reminds me of when kids make those clay projects in school and all of it is wavey and bumpy, but not to an extreme. Please don't misunderstand me and think that I'm saying the black/dark-colored glass globe looks bad, I love it but have no clue what the technical term for the style is called. The cement base has a good weight without being overly heavy and adds to the modern style of this lamp. This looks best with an Eddison bulb, as the bulb and the generated light will be distorted by the "waves" of the glass. This isn't a light that you will have to read books by, but as an accent light, this looks great in any room for your home, dorm, or office. I highly recommend this light and tell you that it's worth every penny!I know that it's only 16 inches and black is supposed to be slimming, but this light looks bigger than it actually is when sitting on a table or bookshelf.🐻 *Statement/Disclaimer: This review is part of Amazon's Vine Program which provides products at a reduced cost in exchange for sincere/frank reviews. Beautiful, modern but with a small rattle
I was looking for a new lamp for my desk. I have a black adjustable height desk, and am trying to keep things pretty similar with the all-black look....when I came across this lamp - I knew it was the one.As other reviewers have mentioned, this is a good sized lamp, which is a good thing. The glass shade is beautiful, the base is simple and heavy, and it gives off either a super dim light or a brighter light when full turned up. The shade make the light case a cool effect on the walls too. I love it!But, one thing I have noticed is that on my desk, since its a standing desk, it can have a slight wiggle when I type - nothing major at all - it's common with all standing desks. But it's just enough for the glass shade to rattle against the base. I've tried adjusting it, making sure it's tight, etc. But that rattle will still pop up. I am now thinking about something that I can put in that small gap to help isolate the glass shade a bit more - maybe something Brightech should take into consideration. I hate deducting a star as this is a beautiful, unique, and very well made lamp - but I could see this being an issue for other people if its on an end table or nightstand - and just the basic movement when you walk by.I still highly recommend this stunning lamp!
