This is awesome. Extremely well made, very sturdy. And that red lock feature is very secure. Highly recommend this.

It's perfect for small cars!
This rack is very simple. It went together in under 10 minutes and holds quite securely to my 1.25" hitch. After reading the reviews, I ensured that the bolts were all very tight and that the little round rubber spacer was left in for support. There is almost no movement possible with this thing, to the point that I question how it would fail if it did. It seems like the only option is to rip open a weld. I put my 50lb e-mtb and my 25lb gravel bike on it and drove around town for a bit. The bikes swung around in the rack as they weren't attached using straps or bungees, but the rack didn't budge. Even when I took a fast turn or bumped over a speed bump, the bikes merely wiggled atop the stable rack.I will update this review if anything happens with the rack. Until then, assume it's working fine for me.UPDATE: The Allen rack is holding up great! I have had it on my car for over 6 months, and I use it multiple times a week. When not in use, I fold it down and then back up when I need to use it again. Safe to say, it has gotten heavy use.I keep a very close eye on the condition of the rack. I regularly check over the welds, hinges, and the hitch attachment point. So far, there has been absolutely no noticable wear or change in the structure. I haven't even needed to tighten it to the hitch!I have discovered some tricks that make using the rack easy and convenient. First, I keep a cable lock wrapped tightly around the vertical beam to secure any bikes I transport, especially if I'm parking for a while. I also keep a few bungee cords on hand to attach to the rack, wrap through the front tire, and hook to the outside pedal. This keeps the bike from swinging, holds the handlebars straight, and stops the pedals from spinning. It is also advisable to put some paper towel or cloth between the rubber, plastic, and Nylon attachment points, as these areas are prone to causing paint damage.I love to use this rack for on-the-go bike maintenence. It works as a decent bike stand for all types of bikes. I can pull my tools out and get to work on a bike right there behind my car. I've even got a little collapsible stool to sit on while i tinker. The rack gives me enough room to turn the pedals and test the gears and brakes, as well as do any other maintenence required.I so highly recommend this bike rack! It isn't the fanciest rack on the market, but it is a simple and elegant design that works extremely well.

bikes bounce around despite being strapped in and it rattles
I like several things about my Allen bike rack. I like the ease of being able to lower the rack to get things in to the back of my Bronco Sport if I need to use the "way back". At 74, it's easy for me to get my bike up and on the rack. That being said, the buckles to hold the bike are flimsy plastic and I'm worried about the quality of them as time goes by. I strap my bike onto the rack as directed, and the way the plastic buckles work, the second buckle (to the back of the bike) loosens every single time, but the first buckle stays tight. If it had a ratcheting mechanism for the buckle that would have been much better. The rack rattles going down the road more when there are no bikes hanging, despite all connections being tight. My bike also bounces quite a bit up and down, but with the added use of two bungee cords, I have tightened that up so that no longer is a worry. I also bungee the bracket mechanism when NOT carrying a bike to lessen the rattle. So far so good. I am going to contact the company about the buckles to see what they say....The plastic buckles seem to be common on a lot of bike racks, so guess they are ok...I'm just not happy with how one of them loosens on a short road trip of less than 10 miles.

Fantastic product - Fair Pricing
Great product for the value. Spend a little more and get Premier for quick release functions and Rubber Pad cradle base and rubber insert on main pole to prevent scratch. The only thing Allen is missing from beating Thule and Yakima on their game is a Anti-sway cradle - I appreciate the non inflated prices though

Sturdy bicycle hitch rack
I had difficulty finding a sturdy bike rack for my little Miata sports car.The car had a hitch installed for attaching bike carriers, so this Allen hitch rack was perfect.I like the expanding end that goes into the hitch as it keeps the rack from rattling. Also, the lock will help prevent someone from stealing the hitch while I'm bicycling.

Up date on Stuck in hitch-Superior Customer Service
Hold off on buying this until they figure out the lock. Once you install it works great and is solid. BUT now I can not get the rack out of the receiver. One of the keys snapped off second use, and the button to push in for release was difficult but I got it. Now on trying to remove the rack the second time the release button will not push in and the rack is very solidly stuck in the hitch. Not sure what to do next.Contacted Allen Sports and sure hope they are helpful because I need to use my hatchback and get this off my car so I can return it.First thing in the morning after I wrote this first 2 star review, I receive an email from Allen Sports. First thing was offering to make the situation right asap. The night prior i had some family help looking at it trying to figure out what it was we needed to do. Final solution was some WD40 around the release button on the hitch and them some wiggling. I think there was just not the right slip after unlocking it to get it out of the hitch, and perhaps that button I think was maybe too big for my hitch. They offered to cover the cost of the 2 stronger keys I had made and will look into the keys and what may have been the issue with my rack. I am going to try it a few more time to see it the issue comes up again. They do a lot of product testing and were genuinely interesting in my problem since it never happened in their product testing. They offered to replace with another rack if this continues, this was Allen Sports, not Amazon. The rack is very well made, I looked at a lot before buying this one and the quality and function is great and would now definitively recommend you can by their product with confidence.

Bike rack
Holds the bikes nicely! Alittle challenging to get it back out of the hitch alone, but made well
