Strange fabric. Feels like plastic but fire proof.
The description doesn't say what the mesh is made of. It says rust resistant which lead me to think it'll be made of some metal. However, it feels like plastic/nylon.I did place it on gas flame 🔥for a few seconds & saw it turn red, but it did not melt. Neither the black color changed nor the shape deformed! So it looks like it'll work on barbeque grill. What worries me now is if the material is made of food grade fabric? If it is made of asbestos (fire proof material), then it'll have severe effect on lungs. Without knowing what it's made of, it's a great health hazard to use it.

Loved the Matt. Thin mesh so pieces of food do not fall into the barbecue.Easy to clean.

Product description misleading
The material is coated plastic. It got burnt in the middle while BBQ ingfish.
