Stable and great coverage

I have tested around 10 routers/mesh setups over the past 18 months, from the top end BE85 from TP-Link, down to the Sky supplied Sky Max Hub. This router is by far the best when it comes to stability and range vs cost for me - so much so - that I don't actually require a mesh setup anymore. I live in a ~1500 Sq Ft new build and the side of the house where the router resides tops out at over 900Mbps in every room upstairs and downstairs, and the rooms further away get as "low" as 520Mbps.I have no use for the 6Ghz band, anything that supports it that is in the same room as the router is connected via Ethernet (cannot beat a cable) - but I have a couple of WiFi 7 devices and the other new features WiFi 7 offers can't hurt, such as 4K-QAM. I needed a router to replace the poor Sky Max Hub so opted for the BE86U - much more importantly than the 4K-QAM, it is 4x4 MIMO on the 5Ghz band which really helps with band steering (in my real-world testing), comparing it to a 2x2 router. This router can get over 500Mbps to my WiFi 7 enabled phone in the back bedroom, whereas routers I have tested with just a 2x2 offering tops out at around 270-290Mbps.I have had this running for over a week and it has been solid, not one drop out or unexpected reboot. I have ~35 devices connected to it and everything has just worked - which is refreshing to say the least. I am thankful for not having to play IT troubleshooting, seeing as I have to do just that in my day job.I would certainly put this in the top 5 routers you can buy in 2024 if you have Sky FTTP (most ASUS routers support DHCP option 61 which Sky uses for their FTTP products, not the usual PPPoE).

Worth the Price

The router is pretty decent but it's the app that stands out.I bought it because the isp provided router drastically throttles WiFi speed. So I switched the isp router to modem mode and connected via ethernet to the Ax3000. After that I used the app to set it all up (5 minutes). The app has most of the options that IP admin pages would have like password renaming, device blocking. It also has the ability to turn off the led lights on the router and enable 160 Hz for better wall penetration and 802.11ax for WiFi 6 devices.I did notice that with 5 inactive devices connected the Asus router memory usage was at 66%.I am now able use all the bandwidth I am paying for so All in All I am happy with the purchase at £77

High quality router for Quest 3

Fantastic router - I'm using it to transmit from my PC directly to my Meta Quest 3 via Airlink. The connection is fast and stable and visual fidelity is excellent - no compression artifacts and very little lag.

Unfortunately I do not recommend it .

Unfortunately I thought this was going to be a fantastic router it says a lot but unfortunately I could not connect this I tried for 16 hours ish and I could not connect it it would not connect to my Wi-Fi the functionality is absolutely rubbish I don't recommend this after this is the worst rooted that I've ever had in my life and the definitely won't be going back to that unfortunately it might work for other people it definitely did not work for me and that is why I've returned it today the build quality looks good the connectivity was absolutely astonishingly rubbish for myself so unfortunately I do not recommend this

Fantastic bit of kit

We bought two of these.one down stairs and one upstairs as a mesh connection.Extremely easy to set up. The app control for your phone is Extremely easy to use and has lots of features on it..I'm particularly impressed with able to set up a separate account with to connect to the router for our teenage daughter which you can set different content to enable or disable. It even works with alexa. Not sure I'll ever use this feature. But still handy.

Good router

Took a while researching but wanted wifi6, mesh upgradability, coverage, gigabit, decent chipset and non-Chinese. Works good after 24 hours. Used only off a 4g connection by wan (dhcp) so can't vouch for speeds (max throughout 60/20mbps), but it took that nicely and the app made setup easy. Guest network setup is a doddle, as is separating 2.4ghz and 5ghz to support iot devices. Hasn't reduced speed from the 4g router it draws Internet from - very happy and plain sailing so far.

Unreliable wifi

I give this a low rating because I split the wifi into 2.4GHz and 5GHz. The 5GHz is stable but the 2.4GHz wifi will drop out after an amount of time which can be temporarily fixed by applying the wifi settings on the router home screen. My previous router lasted about a decade (netgear D7000) but I will be amazed if this one lasts very long.

Great to use as an AiMesh node

This router may be a little underpowered to use as a main router, but it is a fantastic AiMesh node.I used to use an RP-AX56 that is supposed to act as an AiMesh node or a repeater. Yes, it did act as a node for about two weeks or so? Then it kept rebooting, knocking out half the house. Unplugged it and gave up. Half the house still got signal, it was just weak, so I'll cope.Recently the need for a node on that side of the house became more important as we were kitting out the garage, and we only get one bar of signal in there, if that. So I factory reset the RP-AX56 and it worked for a couple of days, then started its reboot cycle again. Absolute nightmare. I resisted the urge to go full Office Space "PC LOAD LETTER" on it, and bought this RT-AX57 instead. My main router is an RT-AC86U, so while the architecture isn't completely compatible (the AX57 supports WiFi6 for example), after the initial setup (if you use Asus Merlin like me, you need to connect the node via ethernet first, as WiFi setup doesn't work and you just get errors) it has been absolutely rock solid.I haven't had any dropouts, and my usually very nervous solar inverter (can't blame it after the RP-AX56 disaster) in the garage actually started to trust it enough to connect to it after a few days.As such, I can't say what the performance of the router is like if you use it as a main router, but if you need a node instead, you can't go wrong with it. Very impressed.
