You get what you pay for? 👍
The media could not be loaded. First off, these things are less than $50 So we have to accept that we're not paying for a "high end audiophile speaker". They're also tiny so we have to acknowledge the physical limitations. With those two facts in mind, I'm reviewing this based off what I've bought. Is this small speaker worth what I paid for it?Absolutely.I bought these mostly because micca has a good reputation and is known for good price to performance speakers and I was curious about these as im sure you are. I figured, why not skip going out to dinner one day and but a set. They're great! Don't expect much bass from these and you'll be very happy once you break them in for a few hours. There's also a slight spot in the midrange that's lacking but that could be partially from my room placement and the fact that this thing is freaking tiny. Regardless, every time I turn these on, they put a smile on my face. Watching the little woofer moving like crazy is such hilarious and feeling the air being pushed from the tiny port is certainly unique from a speaker this small.I will say that they require quite a bit of amplification. I have a Fosi 50w x 2 mini amp and I need the volume turned up just past 3/4 to push them properly. I don't have the most experience with small speakers but Ive used Bose cubes in the past and these things are so far beyond those that it's laughable. They sound better when pushed closer to a wall due to the port so keep that in mind.Just buy them. Seriously they're under $40, just buy a pair and mess around with them. They're hilarious and you'll probably find yourself wanting to place them in different areas just for fun.12/20/21-I'm feel like I have to acknowledge some of the negative reviews these speakers have received. Most of them have me wondering why these specific people bought these in the first place. It's a 4.5" speaker with a 3" woofer and they're reviewing it like they would do for a $500 speaker.......for the average person, and someone looking for something better than most sound bars/Bose cubes, these are fantastic. If these costed $75-$100, I think if be a bit more critical but seriously, I've never heard a speaker this size sound as good. I'm also running them with a 80w X2 S.M.S.L amp now and that seems to run them great.

nice little speakers
I am using these in the garage with one of those tiny douk audio amps it is about the size of a tennis ball. that being said the speakers sound great for the price. I have tested them with a few other amps and as in other reviews I have to agree that the bass is a little too high and eventually I will pair these with a mini amp that has tone controls I'll probably use them as my desktop computer setup. I think these are the best value if you are looking for affordable, tiny, ok sounding speakers.

Great speakers, if kept within their wheelhouse
I am a huge fan of Micca products, having owned just about everything they offer in terms of speakers so when I was building a garage workbench and needed a low cost set of speakers, I figured a set of COVO-S would be perfect. It isn't like I would be doing much critical listening in my garage streaming analog from an Echo Dot. While these speakers were supposedly renewed, I saw nothing that indicated such. They arrived exactly like every set of brand new Miccas I've ever owned and were in brand new condition. If you're hesitant to buy renewed, don't be. I guarantee you won't be able to tell the difference from brand new and if for some reason they fail internally, the three money Amazon return policy on renewed products can't be beat. Before getting into sound quality, I do also want to point out that the COVO-S I received arrived with a 1/4-20 mounting hole in the back. Earlier COVO-S products did not but these do, which is a big reason I wanted them as I could easily slide a 1/4-20 bolt through the pegboard of my work bench to mount these. As for sound quality, I do want to be up front... I plan to return these because they just aren't good enough to be primary speakers in a desktop/workbench setup. The bass is not only non-existent (to be expected), but I felt like it really muddied up what would otherwise be amazing highs and mids. When I stripped the lower frequencies out of my tracks and only played highs and mids, these were outstanding speakers but once the bass kicks in, it just makes the whole thing muddy. I did some A/B testing with a set of renewed MB42-Xs I had, and even listened to them asymmetrically (MB42X on one side and COVO-S on the other) with my sound in mono and just swapped left and right during tracks and the difference is night and day. Now, obviously the difference between a MB42X and COVO-S *should* be night and day, they are two completely different speakers in both size and price. However, at the time of purchase, the difference between a set of renewed COVO-S and a set of renewed MB42X was just $30 (and about $35 difference brand new). I believe the sound quality difference is much greater than the price difference, which is why I intend to go with the MB42X in this setup.HOWEVER, in an audio setup where these speakers are not going to be the only speakers, such as an Atmos-type setup or, even better, as high front/high rear speakers in a 7.X surround system, I do not believe these speakers can be beat for their size and cost, which is why I ultimately give them 4*. These speakers are never going to be good enough to be on their own in a 2.0 or even 2.1 setup near-field, but as high surrounds in a surround sound system, there is absolutely no way you can get a better value. No way. The mids and highs are great and the tiny size and 1/4-20 mount makes them super easy to mount just about anywhere. I also want to point out that the speaker and rear panel are very easy to remove from the box so if you wanted to paint the box to match a wall or ceiling paint and really have them disappear, you absolutely could, very easily. The one other thing I want to note about these speakers is that they are oddly difficult to drive. I didn't really notice it until I put a MB42X on my left channel and a COVO-S on my right (using a SMSL SA-50 to test), the COVO-S was significantly quieter and no, not just because of the size disparity. It took an additional almost 1/4 of a turn to get the COVO-S up to the same volume as the MB42X using the same amp. While that wouldn't matter much in a 2.X setup, you do have to be aware of it in a surround setup with a variety of speakers and you'll need to correct for it, giving the COVO's a few more db. Your main speakers will likely be at a much louder volume at the same power without the correction. In a 2.X setup, it would also give you very little headroom between proper listening volume and distortion. The difference between a good loud listening level and enough power to create distortion was maybe 20-30 degrees on the volume knob. Basically the difference from 11 o'clock to 12 o'clock on the SMSL SA-50, but keep in mind that was going from loud to way louder than you'd be comfortable listening to at a desk. All in all, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend these speakers as long as you realize what their wheelhouse is. There are too many good, small, fairly cheap speakers that are better for desks including Micca's own MB42X but if you need something tiny or need small speakers to finish up a surround sound setup, I would very highly recommend these. If I needed front highs for my surround setup, I would honestly probably keep these but I don't right now so I'll be sending them back. I'll definitely be reordering at some point though.

Poor fit and finish
Covering peals off, wrinkles just from sitting on a shelf. Maybe mine had had glue? Not sure. But very disappointed. Not sure if this is normal.

Exactly what I needed.
Wanted something for my TV. Didn't want to go all 5.1 . These gave me what I needed. After some audio adjustments with my TV & Blu Ray player, and a couple on my stereo receiver, bam. I'm happy.Btw, morning song with the speaker terminals. Just unscrew the caps enough to show the post holes and the wires slide right in, then just tighten down the caps. Solid. Thanks!

Okay if you have the money for the cables
There very compact, but there very expensive to hook up to record players, they need a banana cable which is $40.00, and it need s an equalizer which is $50.00, its better to get speakers that have a cheaper wire and built in equalizer. My review is based on record players. Overall great product.
