Allows you to adjust volume on TV to external speakers!

It took a while to find this solution. I just wanted a way to connect my TV to external speakers, and still just use one remote control (the one for the TV). The TV has an optical audio out port, and an HDMI ARC port. The optical audio will not allow you to control volume with the TV remote, so that was out. The HDMI ARC port allows you to do this if you have CEC turned on in your TV settings. The piece I was missing was this converter (HDMI to RCA). The other converters advertised either did not address the volume issue, or they specifically indicated that it was not possible. This one confirmed it would work, and it does work as advertised. Very pleased.

ARC extractor with volume control

FINALLY an ARC audio extractor which supports CEC volume control. Took me 3 purchases, 2 returns to get one that has working volume control.Pros:- Volume control!- Very easy set upCons:- I don't think the audio is 192khz, cause the quality is slightly less than the optical to analog converter I was using before.- TV doesn't show current volume, it just says Receiver (HDMI) when I use the volume up/down. But the extractor sends an audible beep when you are at max volume- Does not come with an HDMI cord

Intermittent functioning. A couple of weeks after writing this the device won't work at all now.

It is an easy solution. I didn't have any trouble connecting everything to my Samsung Smart TV.When it worked it worked very well. But I should have returned it when I could. Now I can't. I would often have to unplug the power and plug it in again to get it to work. Most of the time when I selected it on the TV it would show that it was active but I couldn't change the volume or mute it and I had to power it off and back on. Sometimes it was active when I turned on the TV. If it was selected it should always work when I turn on the TV. When the TV is turned off it doesn't default back to the TV speakers in the TV settings. Today it quit working altogether and I've tried everything I know to get it to work. I guess it's dead. I gave it 2 stars solely for the fact that the sound quality was good. But the reliability of mine was bad.

Works

It works as it should by taking the arc hdmi audio to aux. Unfortunately I’ve got some bass heavy speakers hooked up with not a lot of bass coming through, so this thing definitely causes you to lose some bass. Might just suck it up and get a soundbar with a sub.

Works flawlessly with Samsung TV

So I've got a cheapo Samsung NU7100 TV which has very limited outputs and I was unable to control the volume of my external speakers with the TV remote nor my Roku one. Didn't want to buy an expensive receiver with it's own remote and no way was I going the soundbar route. Optical out was no use since it's set volume only, so I found out about HDMI Arc and decided I'd give an adapter a try. It actually works! Thought I would end up having to upgrade my chi-fi receiver that I connect my Pioneer bookshelf speaks to, but this allows control of volume with either of the remotes I have. Now I can play PS2 or use my Roku without having to get up to turn the volume knob on the receiver/amp - just follow the instructions in the description for Samsung TVs. Chuffed to bits. Time will tell how it holds up, but seems solid enough for a brand I've never heard of.

Plug and Play

Product works great. ARC works with HDMI-CEC on my Sony TV with android TV. Recognized the device right away and I’m able to change the volume using my TV remote. My Sony has a 900mA USB port and it worked fine on that without the included power brick. That said, my TV actually would recognize thedevice as a USB headphone amplifier. This was awesome as it meant I didn’t even need to connect the HDMI cable for ARC. Unfortunately, I found out that Netflix/Android TV does not allow the use of headphones while trying to watch Netflix shows. YouTube worked just fine but the moment I had this device plugged in Netflix refused to play any videos. Not a fault of this device. I assume it has something to do with piracy protection but regardless I reported it to Sony in case it’s a bug.All around useful product. Does what it said. Sturdy metal case.

Complicated setup, fix for Samsung TV's

If you are like me and have trouble with this device disconnecting every time you turn your Samsung TV off then try these settings.- First make sure you have HDMI-CEC enabled under Settings -> general -> external device manager -> Anynet+ (HDMI CEC).- To stop the device from disconnecting, enable "input signal plus" in the same external device manager menu. This lets the TV send more info over HDMI, telling the extractor to re-connect to the TV when it turns back on.- Next, in settings, go to sound. in Sound output, select "Receiver (HDMI)"- Then in sound, go to expert settings, set HDMI e-ARC mode to auto, and digital output format to PCM.For many Samsung TV's these settings should allow the extractor to connect and reconnect with the TV when it shuts off and turns on. I was looking for a very specific product that could use e-ARC over HDMI to connect to my audio receiver and tower speakers. This item does its job well and was much cheaper than a brand new receiver with e-ARC built in, and now that it reconnects correctly I can use it properly.
