Reliable, fast, and instantly plug-and-play!
I bought this to use with my MacBook Air (2025, M4 chip) for a more stable wired internet connection – and it’s been perfect. Plugged it straight into a USB adapter and it worked instantly, no drivers or setup needed.Speeds are consistently fast, and it’s made a big difference when uploading large video files or doing Zoom calls during bad Wi-Fi moments. The build quality is solid, the cable is flexible but sturdy, and it’s compact enough to throw in a bag without worry. If you need a no-fuss way to get a reliable Ethernet connection on a device with no port, this is exactly what you need. Great value for money too.

Good but has limitations
I use this with a MacBook Pro (which has 4 usb-c connectors). It helps when I require one more input than is available, so I use it infrequently when I want to add a usb-c webcam. It solves the problem and seems reliable and durable. Some people have regarded it as useless as it covers the headphone socket but this is on the right of the MacBookPro (2019) that I'm using so not a problem. Also the device can be flipped over to use on the opposite side if necessary so this criticism seems a bit harsh. Shortcoming for me were firstly that it uses up two of the ports to connect and only the top port allows current to charge the laptop so there is no advantage in terms of adding more usb C ports (it takes two to add two). But it does add two usb2 ports in addition so great for old tech. Its thinner than the MacBook so slightly 'sags' (I guess it's the same thickness as an Air?) but this doesn't seem to affect the connectivity. I don't use the ethernet port but this would be perfect for connecting straight to a router. I found the SDCard reader slot stiff and difficult to access so only tried it once. HDMI works great and saves buying a dedicated HDMI to USB-C cable which can be as expensive as this item.So in summary a good piece of kit for the price but not perfect. Having said that, I purchased a second one for my wife's computer recently so this speaks for itself. I'd recommend this item because of the functionality/price ratio. There are better units out there for sure but they are way more expensive! I'm glad I purchased this.

Make sure of this before ordering.
Just plugged in and it works for me as described, but before ordering I made sure that my USB-c port had the display logo then I checked that my processor supported the D1.4 mode.If either of these pre-requisites is not there I don't believe it will work.

This is a long term review.
I’ve had this for a while now and usually don’t review these things because they often die veeerrrryyy quickly. I was going through these at a ridiculous rate at one point and it was costing me a fortune (other brands I have to say). They simply kept breaking / failing because they were made from cheap components.I’m not sure what this is made from so I can’t comment on that, but what I can say is that this has been considerably more reliable and consistent than others I have tried and is still going strong after a year with heavy usage.I’ve used all the ports regularly as I do a lot of sound and video work and you just plug this into your Mac and go. Speeds are relatively fast for transferring, the size is good and makes it really portable and it feels pretty durable. In terms of installation, you just plug it in and off to go.It feels more sturdy than many others I have used and has stood the test of time so far. I’ve actually been consciously waiting for this to fail for a long time now and it never lets me down.I also like that you can have power plugged into it so you can power / charge the laptop whilst working. There’s a lot of ports which opens up many possibility’s for card transfers, mouse and keyboard inputs, outputs to TV via HDMI, USB can be used for external hard drives too which is a life saver when working with such large files on a regular basis - even with decent laptop storage and (begrudgingly) an ICloud storage subscription, I vastly prefer using external hardrives for reliability and quick access to files. iCloud often lets me down in this regard. When the his does eventually fail, which it inevitably will, I’ll definitely purchase another because I have confidence it will be consistent, reliable and last a decent amount of time which means you are getting your moneys worth from it.

Two monitor support, but with drawbacks
So this did allow me to have two external monitors on my M1 Macbook Air after using the included software, which is great, there are drawbacks. There are two HDMI outputs the first is the 4K one - this ran the external monitor absolutely fine. The second is labels 1080p - and the way this works is to send the video via screen recording. Although the resolution and display looks great and there is no problem here, there is a significant jumping and jittery pointer movements. If you plan to use this monitor as an extra display and have little interaction it's fine, but would not be suitable if it was heavily used. The other drawback is that the software it runs to allow this, MacUsbDisplay, does use a consistent 30-40% of my M1 CPU.

Do not buy
The media could not be loaded. Expected more from this , I’d give zero star if I could. Worked for the first month I bought it but stopped shortly after, charging still works but can’t mirror with it on my MacBook anymore .HDMI doesn’t work. One Type C port doesn’t work
