One Of The Best Accessories For Apple Watch
I have been an owner and user of Wristcam since the very beginning. I followed the progression of this device from its early conception to finalized product and have been very pleased with it. The Wristcam adds one of the most needed functions to the Apple Watch that is missing in every model. I personally use an Apple Watch Ultra with my Wristcam. The device is easy to install onto the Apple Watch since it fits into one side by being inside one of the wristband halves that come with the device. It comes with a wristband half that holds the camera module and 2 alternate halves that give you a choice of a longer and shorter length to use depending on your wrist size. I have very small wrists and the smaller band works well for me. The device does add a good bit of bulk to the watch and it can cause you to need a bit of creativity with long sleeve shirt cuffs and dress shirt cuffs, but the device functionality more than makes up for that. The device can shoot both pictures and video and has built in memory storage. It has 2 separate cameras which can either take images from the outward facing camera or the front (face facing) one. The Wristcam is rechargeable and the charger is proprietary. You can not just rush out and buy another one if you lose or damage it. I had that happen to me and that is what introduced me to their customer care team. I contacted them and they are both very nice and extremely helpful. I have actually had 2 separate instances where I needed help. My charging cable was damaged one time and my actual Camera unit became damaged another time. One of those instances, I was going on what would be my little girl’s first vacation ever after she had been very sick for a long time. One of the best reasons to have a Wristcam is that it gets you out from behind the camera…out from behind holding up the phone to take pictures and video of memories and lets you be in them. I have found that it’s sometimes best to just turn it on and start recording and being able to be a part of the action since all I have to do is move my arm to record everything. I was excited to be able to have the ability to stay out from behind the camera on this trip for my little girl’s and I must say that I was very sad when i wasn’t going to be able to use it. When the Customer Care team at Wristcam heard what the situation was, they rushed the new camera unit out to me as fast as they could to get it to me before we left on our trip. I was able to get lots of memories with my little girl in pictures and video while not being stuck in the position of “where’s dad?”…”well he was behind the camera recording everything.” Thank you Wristcam for that…you guys are amazing. The other time when my charging cable was damaged, they sent me a replacement without any issue. They just want to see what happened and what’s wrong so their team can analyze the problem and decide on what would be the best solution. My little girl has been very sick for years. She endured Viral Induced Asthma among other things before Covid ever came around. We had to take precautions and protect ourselves from letting any virus or illness from getting in the house as best we could. Everything that could be cleaned before coming inside was and during the long battle against Covid, our precautions were very strict. The box that arrived with my new cord had been tampered with. Someone had managed to open the box and open up the packaging inside and left the cord dirty from handling it. We always inspected and cleaned any package and the contents before bringing them inside as normal precautions. When I realized what had been done, I was very worried about bringing the cable in the house and using it as it had obviously been tampered with. I contacted Wristcam and spoke with the team and showed them the packaging and cable and let them investigate it and discuss the issue. They agreed to replace and send me another cable immediately and have it where it was tracked and we could know when it was there and we were able to make sure the security cameras were running when it arrived so we could do our best to make sure it was safe the second time. They are a great team and company. If there is an issue, all you need to do is contact them and show them what is going on…they will do whatever they can in my experience to help. I suffer from Narcolepsy and have episodes where I black out suddenly and get hurt. There is a Wristcam Apple Watch face that you can put on it as well as separate complications you can choose to place on other faces if you want. You can also use Apple Shortcuts to activate the cameras and I have short phrases that I can say which will activate the device to record an episode or to send a message to my wife that I need help. The Wristcam can work with another Wristcam or with the Wristcam app on an iPhone and allow for you to speak to each other via video. That is something that isn’t just a fun way to chat in our family but also a way of trying to make sure that I am ok for my family. Wristcam adds fun and more. Sometimes it can lose connection with your iPhone if you forget to charge it for too long after letting the battery totally run out. You may have to work just a bit with the Wristcam iPhone app and Bluetooth settings to get it to connect again. If you have any trouble with it you can contact customer service and they will send you detailed things to try depending on your issue and will also talk with you to give you different ideas until it gets worked out. They are always very knowledgeable about their devices and their operating systems. I definitely recommend Wristcam. They have made life more enjoyable for me and my little girl and they have always helpful but also nice and understanding. That’s not easy to find these days.

Worked once, then wouldn’t connect
TL; DR: Not good enough yet, but getting there. I’m returning this one, but maybe I’ll get the next generation.Update: This paired easily to my Ultra Apple Watch and worked great for a selfie video message one time.I bought one each for my bf and myself. We tried video chatting while both wearing our Wristcams, but it was awkward to have to hold our wrists up to our faces and rotate our arms and hold them up. My arm started getting tired quickly and the video quality was notably low.We switched to FaceTime on the phone within a couple of minutes because using the Wristcam for a video call with such a hassle, and my arm started getting tired really quickly from holding the Wristcam in just the right location and angle.I realized that, with only a 30 minute recording memory, I would not be using the Wristcam often or for much. However, I thought it would be a great tool to have on hand, so that I could start recording at a moments notice, just in case things happen like accidents or crazy attacks. That went out the window when my friend asked me about my Wristcam. She said, “Wow, is that a camera on your wrist?” I said, “Yeah, let me show you how it works.“ However, I could not get it to turn on. It says “connecting” with a full battery, but it won’t connect. The troubleshooting stuff listed on Amazon is a complete joke and totally did not apply. They talk about changing the battery in your watch!? Consumers are expressly forbidden from changing the batteries in their watch or their WristCam, so why do the troubleshooting directions tell you to do so?Pretty much all their troubleshooting faqs say to replace the battery or to restart your watch or phone. Totally ridiculous. I don’t need a website to tell me to restart my devices in a hundred different locations that all say the same thing.Original review:This band can’t possibly be acceptable to use in the ocean unless there are no waves! This band is just like the Nike sport band. I lost a watch in the ocean because I’d heard people wear their watches surfing and used Nike sport bands. My watch came off and disappeared with the first wave that broke over me while wearing the Nike sport band. This watch band uses the same closure design, so I will not be wearing it in the ocean. Having a video showing a person using this watch while on a surfboard is very deceptive. That makes it seem like this is a band that will stay on under pretty much any conditions, but there’s no way that can be true. I’m not going to risk losing another watch plus this expensive wrist camera by wearing it in the ocean. My second gripe is that this has only 30 minutes of recording time and the quality of the video call is much, much lower than what the ads show. However, the standby battery life is really good. I’ve only used this once, and the standby battery life lasts several days without charging. Edit: now I’m not so sure about that because I can’t get it to work at all even though it says it has a full battery.I found it hard to use this camera to film myself. The video call quality is also extremely misrepresented as being much better than it really is. The ads make it look as clear as FaceTime, but it’s not. It’s not even close. The video quality is like something from the early 80’s.At first, I felt better thinking that if I needed to record something really quickly or discreetly, I would be able to do it with this. I got one for my man, too, because we’ve found that even a short video can be a lifesaver in times of duress.First Overall Impression: I recommend only because there is not anything better out yet. Conclusion after using it once, letting be idle for a few weeks, then trying to use it again: This is a total waste of money and time. I don’t mind paying top dollar for something, but it needs to work properly and have great ease of use. It might be that there is some user error occurring here, but if it’s going to be this difficult to use every time, then it’s not intuitively designed, and that’s the fault of the device, not the user.Bottom line: I do not recommend!
