This is the cheapest Alpha+Beta+Gamma GM device with a handheld wand you can get without sacrificing quality. More sensitive than my numerous other lower priced units. I had mistakenly assumed a pancake probe was an availabe option. Researching this after buying it, I ended up emailing the vendor. They ACTUALLY RESPONDED and even engaged in an an email thread until my understanding of the involved variables was complete. I'm really shocked by how good a purchase this was for me.

Unclear instructions. Complicated to use. Never really figured it out.

Outstanding product. I am a prof. of materials science and physics in a university. The device is used for lab and educational work, once in a while. So far so good, the apparatus follows the specs, it is perfectly calibrated to the manufacturer NIST sources, and has all the standard conversions of the data. The battery does not last forever, obviously. I suggest the manufacturer to consider an external battery for field work. Last but not least, I like the beeps of the background noise... Very geeky !

There are a lot of Chinese geiger counters on the market that use the cheap M4011 tube that does not detect alpha radiation.The Images Scientific 07 series counters use the industry standard LND 712 Geiger Muller tube which detects alpha, beta, gamma and X-ray radiation. In addition the SI geiger counters are accurate. They can be NRC certified.This series of "made in USA" geiger counters with high functionality, build quality and reliability, is well worth the price!

I am a geologist and find this instrument a good buy for someone teaching or interested in their environment. I live in an area of many uranium deposits and close to a former nuclear weapon production plant. I have found this to be a very valuable tool for checking for radiation sources. So far so good. I am very pleased with my purchase. I purchased small padded camera bag with the correct measurements to store and carry my instrument and accessories in.

Needed this counter for a job site only a few days away. Placed the order and the staff sent it out right away. Arrived on time and works just as described. I got the slide switch one directly from their website (not Amazon). Cam with the cert, a free ebook, the software CD, DC power cable, and manual. Haven't used all the function yet but I have no reason to believe there will be any problems as the standard functions work fine.

I have had this Geiger counter for several months and I can say, it's the best of several counters I use (and the only one I use with a wand). So far the counter is very reliable and accurate. The basic graphing software I received (although it's not the full-version which you have to pay extra) is useful.
