Works great
This worked great and without issues. Signal is quite clean.

This is the sensor you want!
Worked right out of the box! Spent time and monies on other cheaper sensors and the rest are garbage. Just go with this one

Hardware degrades over time
The signal was decent at first, but over several months the signal quality degraded to the point of not being able to use it, despite numerous analog and digital filters to try salvaging the underlying signal.

and it worked fine. It's a little finicky
It's a little pricey for what it is. I bought this for a simple project with an Arduino Uno, and it worked fine. It's a little finicky, which I knew to expect when I bought it. It's not a super advanced piece of technology, but it's good for a beginner project. The code online is fine, if I recall correctly, it worked okay, maybe a few adjustments? My favorite part is the velcro that it comes with to attach to your finger. Apparently to use the ear clip, you have to hot-glue the sensor onto the clip. I didn't want to try this for fear of breaking the sensitive pieces on the back of the sensor. It also comes with little vinyl covers for the sensor. These are nice, they're the right size.

very sensitive to pressure
The PulseSensors arrived in time and there were no damages. Before use, the sensor needs to be protected. There a transparent vinyl pad enclosed for the front and velcro-pads for the back. The (good) instructions tell you to seal it into hot glue, but I will do this later. The examples they provide are nice and work flawlessly. Only the pressure you apply with your finger is critical. A quite light pressure worked best for me, but its hard to be constant. Maybe a big clip, like they have in hospitals, would make it easier. I did not try the mounting variant with the ear-clip yet.

good reading of pulse
just works on fingertips and ears, not working on other places (arms, etc.)there is noise when you move the sensor against you skin

Used for an engineering project
PLEASE PROVIDE A FINGER CLIP WITH THE SENSOR, THE VELCRO MOVES AROUND TOO MUCH. This pulse sensor works if the sensor is absolutely still and you're not moving. Since the slightest bit of movement even with the velcro strap would throw off the readings, it added to noise/incorrect readings. I paid for two of these and both gave me the same issue. I even properly attached the plastic cover to the sensor so no oil, sweat, or grease would get in the way. I have no shame in leaving a 1 star review since I BOUGHT TWO OF THESE to make sure at least one work without being 100% still

It works as advertised
This device works exactly as advertised, assuming you want an analog output. But, if you need a digital output, then you'll need to use it with a microcontroller, such as an Arduino, to convert the analog signal to digital. The seller provides a free Auruino sketch, which does a good job of converting the analog signal to digital. However, this code is too complicated for a person with my limited software skills to modify. That's the only reason why I gave it four stars instead of five. I realize that this is a personal issue and it may not be a fair reason to downgrade the product to four stars, but I'd like to see the seller include an example sketch that's easier for an amateur to customize With that said, if you're good at writing Arduino sketches, and if you understand timer interrupt code, then you should be able to customize the example sketch and use this pulse sensor in almost any project. For what it's worth, I've purchased several different pulse sensors and this is the only one I've found that's any good.
