Very valuable when you need to take sensitive data in the field
This works great and is very easy to use. This completely eliminates the risk of taking confidential data in the field. Even if you lose it, it will "self-destruct" after whoever finds it tries to unlock it a few times.

Security and Convenience at a reasonable price
After researching several options for secure, encrypted, and tamperproof USB storage I ended up going with the iStorage datAshur Pro 2 secure USB flash drive. I have owned an IronKey 16GB Drive for 8 years or so and absolutely love it, BUT the cost for a 128GB IronKey Drive was nearly 5X the cost of this drive. I've read reviews on this product and had initial concerns about the keyboard, complexity of set-up, and the outer dust cover.Take the 5 minutes to read and follow the instructions and the set-up is absolutely straight-forward (dare I suggest easy). The keyboard is small, but very tactile and has distinct feedback when each button is pushed. The outer case seems fine to me, but I won't be attaching to a keyring for everyday carry. As suggested when reading the capabilities of this device, it is a very secure USB storage device, but it does not offer an online encrypted back-up should the device be lost, stolen, or destroyed. The IronKey does offer online encrypted backup, but at a very steep price differential. In fact, you could buy several of the DatAshur devices (conceivably for backups) for the cost on one IronKey. Clearly not as convenient as an encrypted online option, but for most people I think is a great solution. As a data conscious and technology-astute user, I highly recommend the datAshur PRO2 - Secure Encrypted Flash Drive

Worth it if you need the increased security
Very nice, very beefy, very well made. It's not small, so if size is a huge issue, that might be an issue. Granted, it's not enormous (that's what she said), but neither is it tiny (in comparison with other USB drives of similar capacity). It is fairly easy to use, not that complicated, but the PIN is required before you can access the files. If you plug it into your USB port without entering the PIN, nothing happens. Your computer won't even detect that the drive is there. Once the PIN is entered, it works like any other USB drive. File transfer was fast and easy; lightning fast. The price was higher than other USB drives of similar capacity, but if the security is needed, the price really balances itself out. This thing is HACK PROOF. Unless someone has a supercomputer and a team of expert data recovery specialists, they are not getting into this thing without the PIN. The self-destruct feature may not be needed, but it's nice to know you can wipe the drive to avoid your data getting compromised. In short, if you only need a USB for routine use (school, family photos, etc), this might be overkill. If you need security, this thing is your Huckleberry!

Relatively Steep Learning Curve - Not for everybody
Pros;Very SecurePretty CoolCons:Slightly steep learning curve. Setup is and options are multi-step.A bit priceyAn encrypted flashdrive might be just fine for most people's use.Make sure that any emergency user can figure out how not to destroy the secure data if they need to use the stick!!!!!

Loss data
Dear customers! Be careful with this USB drive. It worked for me for 1 week. And it's not that it broke, he destroyed all my sensitive data. The user manual says that the disk destroys the data after entering 10 times the wrong administrative password in a row. Keyword “in a row”. This is not true. There are 3 counters built into the disk: 10 times for the administrative password, 10 times for the user password and 1 time for the recovery password. That is, if, for example, during the course of a year or two years, you accidentally entered the wrong administrative password 10 times, then the disk erases all data without warning, you won’t even know that something went wrong and that the number of attempts ends. The counter runs cumulatively and is not reset without loss data. When you see this disk for the first time, start using it, learn to manage it, it is absolutely natural that you or your user can make mistakes. But this leads to fatal consequences. Technical support cannot help, they do not have a secret recovery code, even a one-time one. Even if you are registered with them on the web-site as a disk administrator. One could envision the generation of a one-time code depending on the serial number and other administrator data. I also note that button presses and firmware work are very unstable. For example, in one session, you enter the password and the disk does not open (you count 1 unsuccessful attempt by the counter) for an unknown reason, the next time you enter the same password, the disk opens correctly, but the counter of failed attempts increases by 1 and does not reset. I don’t understand why this disk is needed at all. Decide for yourself, I’m out of luck.

Disregard my previous review
The instructions are confusing, but I did get it to work.

Safe and secure storage
I bought this because the company I work for and the company I work with both require encrypted USB drives. Software encryption isn't good enough. This has hardware encryption with an easy button design to lock and unlock it. It will make my job easier by eliminating the need to burn DVDs to move files from the source to destination. And eliminating scratched CD/DVDs.

Excellent solution for data backup
We have been buying the datAshur PRO from iStorage for a while now, and saw that they just recently launched the datAshur PRO² version which offers more capacity and more features so this was a no-brainer!In my line of work, we carry a lot of sensitive files, so this product is a great solution for storing data without needing to worry about who will be able to view the data on the drive if ever lost or stolen. The product is flawless, it’s fast, easy to use and extremely secure. The build quality is impeccable and the design is stunning.

Excellent, but download and read the complete user manual first!
Ever bought a USB flash drive that requires a 42 page user manual to explain how to use it? Well, if you get one of these, that's what you need to do. In fact, download the user guide and read it before buying one to see if it's right for you. While you're at it, do the same with Apricorn's Aegis flash drive and compare as it's a viable alternative. If you just want to encrypt files, there's easier, cheaper alternatives (search "paranoiaworks").I went for the Pro2 model which is the super deluxe version and costs 8-10 times more than a regular flash drive. Go big or go home. It's basically a self contained computer. You start by creating an administrator ID and then establish various parameters (password strength policy, device timeout, bootable, self-destruct password etc.) and then optionally user IDs which can be read-only or read/write. I would recommend only using it with a user ID since it only deletes the ID if you fail to enter the password correctly too many times. If you fail with the administrative ID, it resets the drive completely.I set mine up as a live Linux (MX-Linux) drive with a NTFS data partition. Give me an Intel based computer with a USB port and a network connection and I'm good to go. In fact, my drive along with my hardware authenticator key is now my office. The major caveat of this device is that it does run on a rechargeable battery. It it gets too low, the device erases itself, so don't put your super secret files on it and lock it in a safe for six months because it'll probably be blank when you try to access it. There is no capability whatsoever to recover the device once it's erased.

Hoogwaardig product

Sturdy
The flash drive feels very sturdy to hold. The battery was dead upon opening, though, I could program the pins while it plugged on a USB port. An inconvenience for sure, but, it still works. Was able to operate on its own power after leaving it charging for about 30mins. Personally, data feels safe and protected with this device, but, only time will tell on its long term reliability.
