Well made, very useful, a little pricey.
This solves a really irritating problem that you may run into if you use a tripod screw mounted hook to secure your camera to a strap, but also want to put the camera on a tripod at times. Before this, it was a very awkward and time consuming process to switch between the two, but this completely solves the problem. This seems very well made, and is pretty light weight for what it is. I was worried the extra bulk of having a tripod plate on my camera at all times would get irritating, but it hasn't.The only thing I've noticed that isn't perfect is that when I initially got this, I seem to remember that the folding hook would easily flip back and forth between being extended or being folded. By that I mean, you could just push it in either direction, and it would sort of spring into place the rest of the way, either folded or extended. After some use, it seems to have stiffened up so that you have to physically push it the whole way back and forth, but I wouldn't say that it's binding. I'd much rather it do this as opposed to swing loosely. That might get in the way of mounting it on a tripod if the hook had no tension on it.Also, I wish it were cheaper. $55 is a little much for a tripod plate. But, again, it seems very well made, and considering that it's keeping a camera and lens worth thousands of dollars from falling to the ground, I'd rather it be well made and a little expensive rather than flimsy and cheap.

Works well, it’s a little pricey, but.... think about what it is attached to.
Everyone has the same complaint, this plate is kind of pricey. But, once you get past that, and put it on your camera, it all makes sense. I have always dreaded using those little rings that screw into the tripod mount on the bottom of the camera body for fear that it will come unscrewed, and my camera will go crashing to the ground. This plate removes that problem. The ring just flips up. There is a separate screw that holds the plate to the camera body that you put on with an Allan wrench. Added bonus, the plate mounts perfectly on my Manfrotto tripod. Also, the plate is very low profile, so it not too tough to shoot in portrait position, even with a grip. So, yes, this plate is a bit pricey, but, think about the pricey thing that it is attached to. So having peace of mind knowing that your camera is not going to get unscrewed while it’s dangling on your hip, makes it not so pricey after all. I would recommend this plate. Pay the extra money, and feel safe knowing that there is a better and safer way to attach a ring to the bottom of your camera. I guess it’s like buying an insurance policy.

Maybe a bit expensive for what it is, but you'll love it.
It's so nice to switch between sling and tripod without having to unscrew the plate. It looks and feels pretty solid.
