Fine Accoutrements Marvel Closed Comb Safety Razor

I started wet shaving again after years of growing a beard and not liking going back to an electric shaver. I started off with the "recommended" beginner shavers such as the Merkur 34c, Parker 99R, and Edwin Jagger 89de. I use a 2-3 pass routine and change blades daily as I have issues getting a close shave on the neck with dull blades. I had some major issues (blades not centering in some) and minor issues (didn't like angle or angle hard to find, etc in all) in those and wound up trying the Marvel after trying and liking other Mr Fine products. This has become my go-to razor.The fat bumpers and flat head allow finding the proper angle easily and seem to be more forgiving. That flat head seems to allow me to get the upper lip below my nose easier. I can drive blades a little harder without getting any nicks. The short handle works well and my beard grows at crazy angles on my neck and I can maneuver it easily. The weight makes it feel solid but is still easy to hold. The knurling helps, though I wish it were a sharper traditional diamond as it is slightly slick with wet hands. The best feature though is that it has been rock solid, 100% with every blade tried, CENTERED PERFECTLY. For me, this has been well worth the money spent as it works and is a pleasure to use.

After reading reviews, watching many videos, i was hyped for this! All the things i read and saw said you just can't cut or nick yourself. Well, i can tell you without a doubt, i did. It's much more aggressive than the Merkur 34c i use daily. The first pass was incredibly close! The 2nd pass was where i got into trouble. It's a big, heavy razor and finding the edge was a bit of a learning curve for me. I've used it 5 times and each time gives a super close shave. Maybe the closest shave i've ever had. BUT..each time, i've had razorburn/irritation afterwards. I'll keep trying it and changing up my technique and see if the results are different. I'm sure it's operator error, so, take my review with a grain of salt. The razor itself is really well made, heavy and gorgeous.

Used this razor for the first time today with 3 days growth. Only a two pass shave. A third pass would be asking for razor burn as the blade gap is perfect if you appreciate efficient razors. I would say this is below the Muhle R41 yet above the Merkur 34c in aggressiveness. High end craftsmanship. Great balance and weight. Let the blade do all the work. No pressure required. Smooth BBS shave. I would definitely recommend this razor for anyone who knows a little about DE shaving. If your new, get it, hold on to it and practice before you regret your inexperience. This work of art commands respect and you will certainly be rewarded 10 fold if you take your time. I fear the price will jump up in the near future due to demand. Love this razor.

The handle on this razor is shorter than I expected. I have smaller hands but I feel like it is small enough it doesn't fit well even in my hands. It does not come with blades, just as a heads up. Overall, it feels heavier than I expected and it does not feel quality enough for me to have paid almost $40. The next safety razor I purchase will probably be wood so it is lighter. As a plus, the pieces of the razor do come apart easily in order to put the blade in, which is a nice part about this razor.

I have had several others de Razors but Marvel is best I have used so far in just 2 pass I get clean BBS shave if you angel it properly then it’s smooth shaver else it can be easily getting to nicks and cuts so far excellent

I'm enjoying the daily shave. The seller did not include any razor blades, but they're very easy to find and you can buy a sample pack of various types. Over all I like this product and recommended it. The handle is a little short, but I quickly adopted.

I have mixed feelings on this Mr.Fine razor. First all all the razor was shipped not boxed but was in a clear baggy unassembled so the 3 parts of the razor we’re hitting and scratching each other during shipping. The top cap had a few scratches and a few spots with exposed zinc metal with no chrome finish covering it. Very Poor quality on the plating. I was going to return it but I decided not to go threw the return hassle process. So I sent the razor out to get replated in a polished copper finish instead. Now it looks great and shaves great. If they can step up their plating quality this could be a great razor.

Great shaving razor. Just wished the handle had more texture its a little slick when wet.
