Practice Makes Perfect English Vocabulary for Beginning ESL Learners (Practice Makes Perfect Series) 2nd Edition

This book is divided into simple present, past, and future tenses: sentences, questions, and negative forms. In addition to a lot of vocabulary. These would have been the perfect book if they have would have include the vocabulary by theme or by using most frequently used words.

The drills in this book are very helpful for the topics being taught, and I highly recommend it as a supplement for teaching English grammar to ESL students. It is not as useful for EFL students because the content is geared to the weather, seasons, culture, etc. of the United States, and is not always applicable for use with students in other parts of the world where these things are different. However, it is possible to adapt the sentences so they can be used outside the USA.

I firmly believe that this book has been very beneficial for my students. Having the words in English and a space to write the word in their language helps them to understand the word better. It also helps then learn the use of the dictionary. What I liked about this book was, it not only comes in English but also to learn spanish.I recommend this book because it helps the student to use words in conversation and sentences .

This is a really good way to learn English idioms and phrasal verbs. There are conversations between 2 people (dialogue) and exercises to practice the new vocabulary.

Teach ESL to very beginning adults - this series works well with my individual style. Easy for classes and one on one. One of the few series I have used that explains very clearly and simply in a way that is easy to understand but adult oriented.

I thought this book would be good, but the words are way too advanced for a beginning English-languagelearner. You have to introduce simpler vocabulary in a very basic format. The words are also toodifficult for them to pronounce. They are not presented clearly, just in long lists with no application indialogue or clear setting.I will not be able to use it.

Very basic for what I needed. Other than that it is very well written for beginning english

Great text. It provides all sorts of information that can provide much discussion and work for any level class. It's going to India with me, where I'll be teaching English to Tibetan refugees. It's a must.

As the first reviewer has already said, there is quite a lot of American English, which requires explaining to an English language learner, although the discounted price of the book makes it cheap enough to buy two for one to one teaching.I also bought, in the same series 'Basic English', although this bills itself as an English grammar book, a lot of the space is taken up with vocabulary, so really just one the volume would cover both, in my opinion. This book is also in American English!

This book has been quite good for work (EFL teacher) but I should have done my research a bit better. There's quite a bit of American English vocabulary which is fine for more advanced students but tends to confuse beginners. It's still pretty useful though.

Good book - very useful. Clear and concise, easy to read and contains some good ideas for lesson planning. Product recommended.

I really recommend!

I teach an adult ESL class. I use "Practice Makes Perfect English Vocabulary beginning ESL Learners" to reinforce vocabulary of beginners and to expand the vocabulary of those who are more intermediate students. I like its straight forward format, the clear, understandable lesson followed by helpful exercises (with an answer key) to reinforce the lesson. An ESL student who uses this book will improve his or her vocabulary and correct usage.
