Addy Mini Doll (American Girl);American Girl Misc. Supplies – Abridged, August 30, 2013

American doll minis are great, and in my opinion a much better value than the full sized dolls. The dolls and clothes are well made, and the limbs move in much more natural ways than those of most fashion dolls. I bought Addy for my daughter's 9th birthday, She loved her, and I'm generally pleased with Addy, but there is one oddity about this doll. The full sized Addy has her hair braided, turned under and secured with a ribbon. The mini doll's hair is braided and tied with a blue ribbon over a black elastic and then the braid is looped up sideways and secured with a second elastic band. The effect is asymmetrical, and makes no sense as a hair style. Before I gave the doll to my daughter I re-did her hair, which involved cutting the sewn together ribbon out of her hair, repositioning the braid, and tying it with a new ribbon. It was tricky to do without damaging her hair, but I'm pleased with the results, though puzzled as to what the makers were thinking when they arranged her hair in the first place.

I was very excited to receive my first American Girl Doll. As a child, Addy was always my favorite. I was about seven or eight years old and these books opened my mind to the realities faced by many during a dark and horrible time. It was the first book I had read about slavery and I fell in love with History then.Anyway, back to the doll. It's lovely however my only issue was that her socks were a bit moldy. I took them off and washed them (that is why she's wearing no shoes in the picture). The box may have been in a humid area so I'd advise the sellers to check on this situation.

I gave this product 3 stars. I think it is a great idea to offer a less expensive alternative to the American girl doll for those who cannot afford to pay more. However, it is very, very small. Also, though I am aware that it is not the fault of Amazon, I am dismayed by the outfit she is wearing. I was happy to see that an African American version of the American Girl Doll was available. I do not understand why the designers saw fit to put her in such a dowdy period outfit. I couldn't help but wonder why she can't be dressed as beautifully as the white girl dolls are ?Frankly, the whole concept of buying a doll that costs $250 strikes me as obscene materialism. I would never support it. Isn't is possiblle to arrive at some kind of compromise insize and cost that the average American family can afford to bring a measure of happiness to their little girl on Christmas morning or birthday ?

This little doll is wonderful. I bought a full-size American Girl doll for my granddaughter's birthday and because she has a younger sister, I needed to get something similar for her. Of course, I wasn't even going to try to buy another full size American Girl doll but these little mini dolls are perfect. The youngest is 6 years old and a destructive little one - cute, but destructive. I won't feel too bad if this one is broken even though I hope it won't be. The price was really great and I never knew American Girl had a mini collection. Thanks, Amazon - once again.

A beautiful doll but was too tiny for the price!

My daughter was set on asking Santa for an American Doll and she wanted to the Addy version. Since we have not previously purchased an American Doll, I was nervous to spend that much money on large version thinking she may not like it. So we purchased the smaller version to "test" if she was really going to play with it and how much she would like it. She loved this version and it was easy for her to travel with.

I like this item. Smaller than I thought but that’s fine. It will be put on display.

I recieved American Girl Mini Doll, Addy in a fast and timley manner. When the doll arrived the packaging was in excellent condition, sealed, and well protected! The product is American Girl Brand and it came new in the American Girl box! I appreciate the seller's honesty in providing the true product that was posted and described!! My little girl will be so surprised on Christmas morning!!
