Good Radio.
Yes this radio is not perfect. It has a couple flaws that have workarounds. The big one I would like to help with is the external speaker issue. The way to fix this is use a microphone/speaker splitter(adapter). I got mine from radioshack for $4.99. Put that in then plug a speaker in with a 2 point male end into the microphone hole not the speaker hole hole because btech is wired backwards. A single point comes through but really quiet. It has been a great radio and works great with chirp on mac. Good for the price. I have the btech uv 25x2 and this is basically the same unit minus a couple things and plus a couple things.

It's the QYT 8900D
Title says it all. Chirp wouldn't let me read/write from/to the radio initially. Found out you need the most recent version of Chirp and when you're setting the radio make / model, use QYT 8900D. It'll work just fine.Menus are very very similar to the Baofengs. Once programmed, works fine. Audio reports have came back and said they were very good. It's the size of about 3 or 4 slices of bread.Fan kicks on after transmitting for more than 45 seconds but it's to be expected.Display is clear and easy to read.Operation is mostly done from the mic which is nice. For the price, I'd recommend it for a low priced 2m 70cm radio.Shortcomings:1.) Chirp didn't like the radio at first2.) Volume goes from 0 to LOUD and only gets louder. You DO NOT NEED an external speaker with this thing. Trust me.3.) Eh. I'm being picky but I would have prefered the speaker to be in the mic as well and the ability to do 100% of the operation with the mic would have been nice as well.EDIT: I've had the radio for a while now and the right potentiometer that controls the channel has went out. No matter which direction I turn it, it decrements the channel. This is particularly annoying but fortunately I usually use the controls on the mic. Will be requesting a refund or exchange sometime soon after I decide if I want to try my luck again

This is a GREAT little mobile radio
Readers & Potential Buyers: Please keep your expectations in line with this radio. It is a sub $100 unit with quad standby and 25w output. What more do you want for that price range?Detailed version: This is a great little radio. I had absolutely zero issues programming it with Chirp and making all the customizations I wanted. Speaker quality is a little anemic, but is completely reasonable otherwise. This unit is perfect for a novice or someone wanting something better than an HT, but still fits in your hand. Tons of cool options in Chirp to make setup even easier. The biggest downside: the squelch system is very poorly implemented and ineffective. Again, for a $72 radio, its still an incredible value.

Most likely a defective unit BUT......
Recently received this radio and mounted it in my car. First day of operation was smooth, took a while to learn the menu and program repeaters in it, but after i got it figured out, I was hitting repeaters constantly with ease. Close range communication with other mobile radios seemed to work fine, good reports on sound quality. Today when i got in my car and fired it up ( ive only had it three days) , it was very apparent that something was wrong. The screen would change colors on random, and the menu scrolling knob only worked if it was spun very slowly. While trying to transmit to other mobile units, I could only reach fairly close radios (less than half a mile), but could only hear units less than 100 yards away. The radio has definitely had a major component failure, what it may be I do not know. Hopefully it is just a defective unit but for the price I doubt it is built with quality parts.

It sort of works
I have an Icon 2-meter radio. There is no comparison. The Hesenate works but is brutally difficult to program and the knobs quickly started falling off. It is a little short on output power as it shows only 18 watts on 2-meter where is should be 25 watts. It will not trip my usual repeater whereas the Icom does it well on the same antenna. All in all, I wish that I had not spent the money on this unit but doubled it and gotten another name brand.

Great tiny mobile radio
Good for the price, fairly easy to program with downloaded software. Nice volume from built in speaker. Transmits nice and clear.

Stay Away.
Do not buy these cheap Chinese radios. They are all the same. The quality is super cheap. Now the data port became faulty/loose and therefore there is no audio receive. I am only able to transmit. Again, quality is sub par and these radio are unfixable which makes it even worse.
