Q: In Sony A7iii there are no holes for two dowels - then how would this fit?

Fits the hole on the Bottom of the A7iii. There is a second hole for you to attach a tripod plate or a strap. Only drawback is that you have to take the plate half off to replace batteries. Better than the one made by Sony.

Hi,Yes,it blocks the battery door.

Q: Will this fit the original A7?

I believe it would. I used mine on the a7s2 and a7r3 but I don't use it anymore.
