Unit not working after using it twice with brand new components!
I bought an LCR-P1 about a month or 2 ago. I've used it in 2 different occasions just to test it the first time, second time just to enjoy the testing procedure again! Both times with various brand new capacitors, resistors, transistors, diodes, and coils, all good at that time! Then, a month later I really needed to test some capacitors from a non working LCD tv, and it kept on reading all of them as 0 ohms resistors?! Weird, so I got a few brand new caps to test the meter, same 0 ohms resistor reading between pins 2 and 3 from the testing jig!!So I got another one of my Multimeters, and confirmed the not working condition of my brand spanking new LCR-P1!!!I am sending you guys a direct email as well. Depending on the outcome, I will update review.Edited review.Company contacted me right away with an emailed software update for unit, to see if it would solve the issue and/or an option for a full refund.Changed my initial review from 1 star, to a full 5 stars, for sure will be buying some more of their testing equipment! In electronics, something can fully pass factory QC testing, and, like in my case, end user QC testing, and go "caput!" the very next time you try using it. What makes a name brand good, is not only their products, options, and prices, but end user customer service definitely differentiates their brand from the rest!Thank you!

works great for testing caps
got it to test caps on everything from computers to A/C units.....it works but never shows rated listings....on a 1.8 cap it reads 1.7......but this lets me know the cap works so i can go on to the next one.....so for me it does what i need and gives me a YES or NO....yes is being close to the numbers on the cap and no is not getting a reading.....easy......

Good upgrade; fewer issues than earlier designs; some annoyances remain
This is a nice upgrade for me from an earlier model with a monochrome screen, a 9V battery that would drain while off, and spring terminals that I eventually bent. This improves on all of those flaws, however, there are a few things that could/should be improved. 1) When powering on with a device connected, it does not actually test the component but nevertheless goes to a screen that says nothing or a broken component is connected. You have to press the test button a second time to actually test the already-connected device. 2) A couple holes on the back or side to store whichever connector you're not using (SMD or ZIF) would be great. 3) The spring hooks provided are embarrassingly cheap and feel like they'll fall apart at any moment. 4) It will (repeatably) have trouble recognizing some of the logic-level MOSFETs I've been working with depending on which way I put it into the socket... try reversing the pins if this happens on the device you're testing.

Good
A handy gadget for measuring components and identifying unknown components.

Cant read below 1nF capacitance.
It claims that it can test as small as 25pF capacitor however that is not the case. I tried a ton of small capacitors ranging from 100pF to 680pF and it could not read any of them. I tried different leads and even plugging the capacitor right into the unit and it would not read any of them. Seems like the minimum it can do is 1nF and nothing below. Maybe I got a bad one but if you need something to test small capacitors in the pF range I would not recommend this. It does great for testing transistors and diodes though and no issues testing larger capacitors.

Honesty.
I finally have something to test IC and Transters.

Still doesn't work as advertised after months of manufacturer updates
This product is disappointing. I have given it some time before writing this in hopes that the manufacturer will provide firmware that enables this to function properly, but firmware 1.0.8 still has serious flaws. Most annoyingly, for NPN transistors, you will get complete different leg identifications depending on the which legs are seated in slots 1/2/3. Pin/leg sequences should be consistent across all seatings, but I see C and E are frequently swapped. Apparently QC is minimal with this company. It looks nice, but the IR feature is almost useless except for verifying that a signal exists, the tester is slow, and it has serious deficiencies when used for transistors. I wish I could return mine.

Pretty useful and compact components tester
Very compact and useful tool. Simple to use, to upgrade and to store. A great buy, if you delve with SMD or PTH electronic components.
