It's like coming home again!
I am always so excited to get my hands on the newest installment in the series, but I always end up crying at the very end because I know it'll be awhile until we get a chance to visit again. It's like having to leave all your family and friends behind for a year or two. Marie has such a way with words that you get entranced with the story and it draws you in completely, and all of her characters seem so real. They aren't without flaws or problems that need to be addressed, like some of the so-called 'Perfect" romance books of today. There are no rich Prince's on white horses coming to save the day, or perfect rich women for that matter. What there is, is a group of people who have more compassion and heart and soul for their fellow men and women, who willingly reach out and try to help these people through their problems, no matter how big it may be. And through it all they develop a close bond.I love this wonderful journey with Owen and Laura. They've both been through so much over the last few years, but through it all they managed to find a deep passionate love that ...IMO- will last through just about anything that comes their way in the future. And it was great seeing all their family and friends standing by Owen & Sarah, during that emotional trial. I loved the strength Sarah showed through the process, and for standing her ground instead of taking the easy way out. I also loved the calm way Owen handled the confrontation with his father.I also loved the little surprise twist Marie through in there for "Big Mac" and Linda. That was a real shocker, for sure. It'll be very interesting to find out how the kids deal with this new development in the future, especially Janey. I give big props to Linda for accepting the situation for what it is, and then sticking by her man. That's what makes a great marriage.Out of all the happy marriages and engagements taking place in this book, the person I was happiest for was, Ned. I don't know why, but that man is just so special to me. Maybe it's because he loved and lost so long ago, but never became bitter. He still had his friends and their families to get him through it all. Then the love of his life comes back decades later, and he finally got his second chance. Not only that, but the man didn't sit on his duff and feel sorry for himself, he went out and made something of himself. And even though he might be one of the richest people on that Island, he acts like any average person around. He has never flaunted his wealth in anyone's face, just the opposite in fact. Heck, there are only a handful of people even know what his net worth really is. I cried so hard when he complained about how everyone stole his idea's. And how he had waited longer than anyone else. And he was so right, because if anyone on that Island deserved to find his happily ever after, it was Ned.And of course I always love getting to see & catch up with all the other characters we've met in the past, once again. I love the wise cracks between the couples and the sibling rivalry that always ensues when they get together, it makes me smile every single time. I love the warmth and love 'Big Mac' & Linda have not only for their own children & spouses, but for their friends, and their so-called adopted kids they unselfishly took under their protective wings and helped raise through the years, too. I'm really curious to find out more about Mallory in the future, too.I love all the characters in this series for different reasons--- but for me personally; my all time favorites in this series are still Mac & Maddie, and of course....Ned. But "Big Mac" & Linda have always been right there at the top of the list, too.I can't wait until the next book comes out, so I can go back home and visit with all my friends and family again.

Another great book in a great series
There are so many interwoven plots in the Gansett series, and you have to appreciate the talent of an author who can think of stories within stories and present these so seamlessly. It’s a real gift. Being introduced to new characters who will be just as loveable as the primary cast of the McCarthy family - I’m loving every book. The surprise bonus wedding…oh, my heart just felt so full!

Another great addition to the series!
4.5 StarsWe are back on my favorite island where we get several weddings and a couple of engagements too. Of course we get all of our favorite Gansett couples. We are also introduced to a couple of newcomers to the island. I am already playing Gansett Island matchmaker in my head!Gansett After Dark is a wonderful book that moves each Gansett couple forward in the series. I have always loved this about this series. The main story in Gansett After Dark is that of Owen and Laura’s wedding along with the upcoming trial of Owen’s father for the years of abuse suffered by Owen, his mom Sarah, and the rest of his siblings. I would have liked the trial to have been a little more dramatic, but since Owen and Sarah had suffered through so much I did not feel slighted by the fact that the trial was a little anti-climatic.There are so many things I loved about this book. We have two surprise weddings that melted my heart! There is one MAJOR development that made me say please tell me she is not doing this, but she did. I was not happy that she went there, but in the end I was fine with the development. I am looking forward to see how this one plays out.I enjoyed getting to see more of Laura’s brother Shane. We also get to meet some of Owen’s siblings. There is an interesting interaction that plays out between Shane and Katie, who is Owen’s sister. I have to YES to this pair! I was sad because, there was not enough Alex and Paul in this book. I needed more of my Gansett boyfriend! I loved, loved getting more into Sarah and Charlie’s relationship. Those two are so wonderful together, and deserve all the love and happiness they get. Evan and Grace are just wonderful as always. Mac is still giving my Alex a run for his money in the best man on Gansett title. Grant and Stephanie continue to grow as couple. I was glad to see Stephanie finally open up to Grant about the fears she has been carrying around. I fall more in love with Adam and Abby as a couple with each book they are in.Get ready for more weddings, babies and new couples as this series continues.Gansett After Dark was a perfect addition to move this great series forward for the future. There is just something about this series, and Marie Force for that matter, that I cannot get enough of. If you are looking for a great summer/beach read this is a don’t pass up series.Happy Reading!

Read read read
We finally get to see what shaped Owen into the man he is today, the man that Laura loves. We see the underlying fear that haunts him, that he has the potential to turn into the man he hates, his own father. Past memories haunt him and it's the love and compassion of Laura and his friends that pull him through. Laura shows him the differences between him and his father and why he never could become that man. Through all the upheaval it's his love and devotedness to Laura and Holden that keeps him strong. Other characters are introduced in the form of Owens siblings and Katie especially I would be interested in knowing more about, along with Hope's story. Hope was introduced in Jenny and Alex's story and her background is a mystery at the moment. Big Mac and Linda get a huge shock in this book but as always Big Mac doesn't sway from who he is and what must be done. I'd love to see how this storyline develops as it would see a shift in the dynamics of the McArthy clan, but I have no doubt that no matter what their steadfastness and love of each other will pull them through.

They just keep getting better and better
Congratulations Marie Force for writing another amazing addition to the McCarthy's of Gansett Island. This book has included all our favourites from the beginning which started off with Mac and Maddie to our newest couple Frank and Betsy. So much has been packed into this book with 3 weddings 2 engagements and a trial. A whole new McCarthy family coming into the picture with Big Mac and Frank's Brother Kevin with his family. (Will these stories ever end - I hope not)As always when I get to the end of a Marie Force book, I can't wait until the next one, and this is no exception.I hope this review has helped. This is the 11th book. To enjoy the beauty of this book may I suggest you follow the series from 'Maid for Love' the first book and it is a free download. enjoy...

Laura and Owen are my favourite Gansett Island Couple. So whenever I can't get into a new book, but want something to read I always head for Gansett and this particular story. As Gansett After Dark is one of those stories I can read and re-read and never get bored and I actually enjoy it more each time.As it is such a great story. That is packed full of brilliant characters, sweet and hot moments. As well as some fun and emotional ones and its one book and I can whole heartedly recommend to everyone.

Emotional!!!
Owen and Laura have been through their fair share of ups and downs, but found love in each other's arms...Against the odds they both fell in love and can't wait to get married... Just two things stand in their way, Laura's divorce and the court case against Owen's abusive father... This is an emotional story, so get your tissues ready... We also get to see the rest of the Gansett Island gang.... I love this series so much and hope it never ends (even though I know it's has to)...
