Emulsifying Wax is an ingredient that enables you to combine water and oil to make cosmetic formulations. Creams and lotions etc are essentially a blend of oil and water, and without an emulsifying agent, the oil and water would simply separate. Emulsifiers are the glue that holds it all together. Emulsifying Wax binds water and oil together and thickens and stabilises the formulations. It creates a thicker more luxurious texture, making application to the skin easier. Whenever you use water in skin care formulations, we recommend you use a preservative to prevent your formulation from developing bacteria, yeast or fungus which can be dangerous. There are natural preservatives available if you want to avoid synthetic additives.
