Perfect replacement for the old model
I bought this to replace the older model. I was concerned by the reviews that it wouldn't fit the old bracket, but that was not an issue. You do have to buy the plug adapter though, but that was an easy install as well. There are quite a few different models, so if you need one that talks make sure it specifically says that in the product description and the box.

solved false alarms
we were having lots of false alarms with our original smoke alarms in the house, they were 8 years old and i guess i never knew that smoke alarms wore out and had "expiration dates" talked to my nephew who is an electrician and he said that a few probably needed replacingtold me to use the same brand since it was an interconnected system so i got a couple of thesethey have solved all our false alarm issues which both i and the dogs very much appreciatethe only small downside was the plug on the back was oriented slightly different than our original alarms so it wasn't just plug and play, i had to undo the wires and attach the new style of plug that comes with these, not a big deal if you know what you are doing but see how it could be an issue to someone who has never had to do any kind of wiring

Worst alarm I've dealt with out of hundreds
Alarm keeps chirping once every 60 seconds which, according to the manufacturer, means that the batteries are dead. I put two new AA batteries in it and it still chirps. I tested the voltage on the batteries and both are over 1.6v. The alarm is 15 months old.I've worked in property management for over 25 years and currently manage over 400 units. I have another one of these CUAR type alarms doing the same thing and it's just over 2 years old. These are by far the worst alarms I've had to deal with. I would recommend avoiding any models that end in "CUAR" and any that use AA batteries. The new codes are going to require 10 year sealed batteries. Hopefully they will actually work for 10 years without too many problems. I personally am switching brands.
