This trap definitely works as advertised! You will see how well every time you empty the basket.
I was more than a little skeptical when I first heard about the DynaTrap on a radio Garden show that claimed it can cover 1/2 to 1 acre of property, but I have trusted the shows host on a number of things so I ordered it through Amazon. It took several weeks to arrive, as they were backlogged with orders as I am sure they are each Spring to Summer. The trap feels very light so you won't have to worry about a heavy or large hook to hang it. I installed it on the far edge of the patio but still under cover. I did not want the rain to soak it or the sun's UV rays to degrade it. I am a little concerned about the operating life, being left on 24/7. So far so good. I have had it operating for a month now and I am really pleased that it is so quiet. How it works: The light stay on continually and attracts flying insects day and night! When the insects get close, the fan underneath the light pulls them through the grate and traps them in the basket below. I have seen all different sizes of insects in the trap.Problems: I have only had one problem with the trap. I came out one day last week and the light was on but the fan was not turning. I unplugged the cord and found that a rather large June Bug was caught between the fan and the grate below it. These tough little bugs seem like they are made of a hard plastic and and this one was too big to make it trough the grate and was wedged in there, stopping the fan blade. I was think that perhaps this could have burned up the electric fan motor but after removing the bug and plugging it back in, it worked just fine. Apparently they anticipated this happening in the motor design. Nice job Dyna Trap!Operation: I empty the trap about twice a week and estimate that there is about one full cup of bugs inside. Some of the bugs that were apparently caught recently were still alive in the basket so I keep a can of bug killer close by and spray the bugs after I dump them out. (No since letting them take off and bother us again.) I probably should empty it more often because you can detect a slight odor from the dead bugs if you leave them in there too long. (Just a suggestion) Although I did not notice the smell from the patio because the fan blowing over them disperses the smell. Just the same, you may want to empty it more often.I am please with the quiet operation and clearly effective way it works, and have noticed a REAL difference sitting outside!. My backyard is about 1/2 acre and I still occasionally notice a fly by, but I'm not bothered like before. Even when I go out at night with a flashlight, I am not attacked by swarms of bugs. It has made a difference that is noticeable!

It works!!
While it does kill just about any insect that is attracted to lights, it does a fantastic job of controlling mosquitoes. I love not having to pay for regular mosquito treatments. That alone means that it pays for itself over time.

Works well but MUST REMOVE LIGHT
Works well when combined with atrakta mosquito attractant however it’s important to take out the UV light if you don’t want to also catch and kill a bunch of pollinators, doing so does not in ANY way diminish its mosquito killing abilities as mosquitos aren’t attracted to UV light.

It’s a mosquito magnet!
It’s amazing as to how fast this machine will fill up with insects. We can actually sit outside in the evening.

Do not believe the hype, its not true
I bought four of these for my property. Three out of four did not run at all and were returned. i just unpacked the fourth which was supposed to be for an acre, but its smaller than the one bought for 3/4s acre. It seems to barely run, and the fan isn't working properly, i would assume since it is supposed to suck flying bugs in, and you can't even feel it move that this unit will prove useless and also be returned... Makes NO sense... half the size.In my opinion Dynatrap is another company lying about its product and making too much money off of folks believing their lies. The fan barely runs, you have to reach almost inside to feel what is supposed to suck bugs in. I put it in a high traffic mosquito and fly area of my property. I'm not holding my breath to see much inside in the AM. I will most likely send this unit back and order good old fashioned bug lights. I would suggest no one waste their time on this product.

Cheap plastic. Not good at catching mosquitos
I purchased 3 for my 1 acre yard. They say that 1 unit will treat and control 1acre. They arrived on time and undamaged. They are made entirely of cheap flimsy plastic and upon opening do not appear to be worth anywhere close to over $100. All 3 units powered up out of the box.The mosquitos are so bad around my property that you can not open the door of the house or vehicles without a few mosquitos flying in. The will swarm and cover you in seconds and are relentless even with bug spray on.I set all three units up around on three different sides of my yard and house and purchased two of the "bait packets". I added one bait packet to the basket of one trap (there is no where for the packet to actually go even though they recomend it in the listing). I placed 1 unit in an area that is in the sun most of the day, 1 unit around a ditch that retains water and is shaded most of the day, and 1 unit in an area that is always in the shade. I placed the "bait packet" in the trap that is near the ditch that is partially shaded and is where the mosquitos are the worst.Set up all 3 on 8/20/24 at 5pm:-In 24hrs the traps caught a large amount of moths and less than 10 mosquitos combined. No difference in catch rate between the one trap with the "bait" and the other twoI will update as time goes on but off the bat they do not appear to do anything really and appear to only catch mosquitos by chance as they fly by to close to the trap opening.9/6/24: 17days-Traps have made no difference in mosquitos... they have cought pretty much everything except for mosquitos. They have cought primary moths but have cought hornets and other critters but only a few mosquitos.**My advice is do not waste your money and I 100% would return them if the packaging was not damaged.

Adequate for small yards
Not as big as expected nor does it work as well as the bigger model.
