Woodhaven 8340 Undrilled Bushing Plate

I'm hoping this was a fluke. I love the base attached to my dewalt and worked great for multiple signs. I caught a nasty knot and with some vibration coming out of the cut the right handle broke off. I'll say I will probably end up buying another one just because of the functionality but damn that's one of my closer calls. The bit wasn't dull either, 2 letters into a brand new Bosch flute bit.

I use 2 routers in my arsenal, the Ridgid R2401 and a Bosch MR23. I love all the versatility of the big Bosch, and the plunge base lives on the thing, and of late I've been doing A LOT of template routing.I needed a way to use my Porter-Cable bushings on the Ridgid to work some trim work where the Bosch simply was too heavy for me to use to mortise out door strikes in a vertical position. So I started looking either a plunge base or some other kind of base for the Ridgid so I could control it better for the job. I found this Woodhaven 8330 and gave it a try.A) the 2 handles make for a big difference in control than holding the router around its throat.B) it is designed to take PC bushings out of the box, so I was off to the races immediately.C) the build quality is great.My only gripe is that the base is made of laminate instead of plexiglass or acrylic. So you can't see thru it and the router's light becomes absolutely useless.But it works so great for what I need it that I can't give it less than 5 stars.If Woodhaven ever updates it and makes a clear base version, I'll buy that too.*****

This is my favorite router base plate to date and I have owned many. The bosch colt is an excellent router but it is very top heavy and narrow, so this base provides the stability you need for edging materials. I like the large knobs and that the plate is made out of a durable plastic that is faced with a low friction material like melamine. This is a must have type of plate to keep in your tool box for applications that require absolute stability and co-planer routing to your work surface.

Really nice base. I adapted this to fit the pr10, and in retrospect, should have just ordered an undrilled, but it works and I'm happy. To use this with the pr10 and edge guide, the back needs to be notched and the holes drilled a few mm over. Now I want a pr20 and a second of these bases!

The Woodhaven product is well thought out, instructions are well written, and it functions exactly as expected.Nice quality for price, and therefore a really good value. It would be nice if the Amazon sites could somehow link the centering cone required for the different router plate combinations, but they don't, so go to Woodhavens site and see what other things you might need or want that you may not already have, and order at the same time to consolidate shipping costs. I now have woodhaven plates for both my Dewalt DW611's and my Bosch Colt routers.

Ooops... I guess they also make a model with a larger opening. I bought this one and installed it and realized that many of my bits won't clear the hole. Make sure you check and know what you're getting into before buying this one. The larger diameter hole model will probably be more versatile for you!Otherwise it's nicely made and feels great in the hand.

This is the very first revue i have every written.I stopped using myBosch Colt because i had trouble holding the router downwith two fingers and eyeing it with my bifocals. It was just too easy formy fingers to slip and go into the router blades.It was just too danagerous. With this Woodhaven Bushing Plate.....i no longerhave to worry about my fingers and can concentrate on the router cut. I can't say thank you enough for making this product. Why didn't Bosch think about ???Mr. 10 fingers!

Works great. Use this along with a bushing set and templates and the possibilities are endless.
