Hefty, metal construction. A nice "puzzle" for delivering very small gifts (a ring, a note, a very small folded card, folded cash).One metal ring turns very stiffly, the others are smooth as can be. When you alter one letter, it sometimes moves adjacent cylinders. Setting the password is a bit of a challenge.The only shortcoming: if you want to change the password, you have to deal with two very small screws that hold the whole thing together. They're easily removed, as is necessary to alter the password. But getting them back in place is a real challenge, even for someone with fine motor skills. Also, given their size (minuscule), they're easily stripped.Buy this for the hefty quality, but change the password once, or not at all.

I got this for my husband for our 8th year anniversary and I absolutely love it. It is sturdy, strong, and well made. The instructions on how to decode it is clear and easy to follow. I think this is such a cute, unique, and great gift for any special occasion. The inside compartment isn't too big, but it is perfect to place in a sweet letter for the person you are gifting.When making another code, you really have to line the pieces up perfectly, which can seem annoying, but you will appreciate the craftsmanship because it means that the cryptex will work the way it is supposed to.I think this is can also be a fun addition to parties/games if you're into making your own Escape Room.

Have always wanted one of these! This is not a cheap plastic kids toy. Very sturdy metal with decent weight to it! Very well constructed and worth every penny! Absolutely love it for a conversation piece, and it's fully functional too! Works awesome!
