Unless I misread the details..I thought the magnifying glass was glass not plastic..

As my eyes age, I’m less and less able to read the fine print in documents, especially in some instruction manuals. This is just what I needed, sized about right, about 4” in diameter. The handle is rubberized so it’s easy to hold even with an arthritic hand, although at this size it does weigh about a half pound, not exactly what I’d call lightweight. The linear magnification measures about 2X, enough to blow up illegible (to me) 5 point type to a readable 10 point size.As to another use, a magnifying glass is a great introduction to optics and physics for kids. I played with one like this many years ago, perhaps in third grade, graduating to building telescopes and playing with microscopes and cameras, ultimately leading to work involving optical engineering in later life.

This is a genuine, very strong, magnifying glass. The grip is certain as it is made of rubber or something similar. The colors are bright (black and neon green) which makes it easy to spot. This is a GLASS magnifying glass, it is not a cheap plastic one. So the magnification is sharp and reliable. Easy to clean. However, I would caution that one NOT give this to a very weak, elderly person. You could literally knock a person out or worse with this thing. It is gorgeous and magnifies at 100 times. I can read ANYTHING no matter how small if legal print size (which can go no lower than 4 point). The way it is made, the part you grip you could do so even if your hands were soapy, which is a big plus.

So getting to an age where readers don't cut it so a magnifying glass is handy -- especially in the kitchen to see how long I've been aging food in the fridge!This is a light weight magnifying glass. It has a slightly rubbery grip which is good to keep from dropping it -- though the handle is a bit short so if you have larger hands (I'm a 5'6 woman), it might not be as easy to hold.It is clear and you can easily read small text from it. The bright green color is good because it does make it easy to find if it has made its way to the bottom of the kitchen "catch-all" drawer.It does what you need it to do and is a good value.[LCVR]

The description said the lense is made of glass. It is NOT. It is made of plastic and does not a give you a nice crisp view. So sad.....

Very cheap plastic, they LIE, they call it GLASS. Seller is lair. Does not work. I would rate this -000
