This four-claw pear paw pendant isn't technically that of a bear as bears have 5 claws. It's more like a wolf, tiger, or cougar paw, so it's still "masculine" enough for most men. Still, it looks the part and only pedants that get close up are likely to point out the missing toe if you insist on calling it a bear paw..I was looking for something that was small enough to scale with a pendant I have and this is just the job. It's about the size of a 10p piece, to give an idea of scale, and seems solid enough. I was slightly worried that the little ring that connects the pendant to the necklace would be a bit flimsy but, now that I have the pendant in my hand, I can see that it was just how the photo was taken and that the ring is perfect for the job.The thong/cord that comes with the pendant is about 2mm thick and easily strong enough for normal day to day wear. The only downside is that you have to tie it to create a necklace, which means that the pendant won't hang around the neck, unless you have a very small head. If you happen to have some findings, you can create an necklace with a clasp and then the pendant can ride higher up your body, as I have done.Remember that this pendant is pewter, so it's nowhere near as strong as steel. It'll wear quicker than steel, and change appearance more quickly. Since this is what I want it to do, the pendant fits my needs perfectly.
