"Laboring in the name of divine love is the most important thing in the world". Zinovia Dushkova
In "Illumination of the Heart", Zinovia Dushkova continues the labor of love begun in Vol. One of this series on the nature & source of Love. The word Illumination, in the context of this book is a reference, of course, to Spiritual Enlightenment. Just as taught by Christ, Ms Dushkova equates God and Love. Such divine Love is the source for enlightenment and the human heart is its mediator. The path to Illumination lies via purification of your own heart. Heal yourself, before you try to heal the world. The heart is the well for God's Love. One may reliably draw from this well once it has been purified of selfish concerns. It is by the "Sword of Love" that we most effectively serve God.I personally found the book fascinating and a boon to spiritual understanding. I highly recommend it to those with open minds and hearts.

Not my favorite installment in the Teaching of the Heart series
The English translation is a recent arrival. However this series is originally in Russian, and dates back to 1998, so the content itself has been around for some time. These "teaching of the heart" books parallel the Teaching of Living Ethics, also known as Agni Yoga, also originally in Russian and scribed by Yelena Ivanovna "Helena" Roerich. This is not my favorite in the series, to be honest. The writing is more sentimental than to my taste. In particular, I note how the translators have patiently taken those Russian passages which are actually poetry, written to rhyme and with poetic meter, and have shaped the English to rhyme and have poetic meter as well. This kind of writing appears in "channelled" material, of which this reader has read a great deal; and generally my heart sinks when I see it. That is how I responded here. There is good material here as well, passages of straightforward prose that recall the other volumes of aphorisms in The Teaching of the Heart books.

Returned it
Not my cup of tea, repetitive theme or style. Sent it back. Disappointing.
