LOVE this stockpot!
YAY! Just in time for fall/winter...a new stockpot! I love my Calphalon Tri-Ply SS 8 qt stockpot- it heats evenly, retains heat well, and is a breeze to clean. Also, the size is perfect. My last stockpot was a smaller circumference with higher walls (but also an 8 qt.), which forced me to have to brown meat for chili or stew in small batches (which took longer) or end up with "steamed" meat instead of "browned" due to the overcrowding in the small circumference pot. Not a problem with this pot. I can brown the perfect amount and get lovely color! (and therefore, GREAT FLAVOR!)I was worried that I'd miss the height of my old pot, but I absolutely do not- in fact, things cook much more evenly in this pot. I steam a lot of greens- kale, turnip, mustard, collard- you name it- and with my little ancient steamer basket in the bottom they come out perfectly- tender and not mushy. Potatoes and pasta also are a breeze, and due to the stainless steel interior, I get no off flavors or staining from acidic foods like tomato sauce. This is a sturdy pot- not too heavy, not too light; with handles that are riveted through the body- very important- you don't want a flimsy tack-weld that could give way when you are holding a scalding hot pot of soup or pasta/water! I like those handles very much- they are a good size/shape, and are easy to grab, even with a potholder. My husband concurs- and that is his big "beef" with All Clad pans (which we also own)- their handle shape makes it impossible to get a decent grip on the pan- especially for larger hands. Not so with this Calphalon. That's a HUGE plus in our house, because we both cook. A LOT.I find the stainless easy to clean, and because of Calphalon's suggestion, I went out and got some "Bar Keepers Friend" cleanser, and feel like I have discovered a jewel of a cleaner. Doesn't scratch and cleans everything to a shine! I use that on everything now. There is only one thing that I don't absolutely love about this pot- and that's the lid. It makes a "ticking" noise when it's on the hot pot. A different coefficient of expansion, or steam escaping under the rim? I don't know, but it bugs me. That's my only gripe. It's nice that it's glass however, because you can see how your food is doing without opening the lid and letting out all of the steam.Overall, I'm quite impressed with this pot, and it has been in heavy rotation since we received it. I'm also happy that I didn't have to shell out $300+ for an All Clad Stock Pot to get this lovely quality.*edited to add: it is now 12 years later (!), and this stockpot is still going strong! We still love it and use it at least once a week (wayyyy more in winter). It looks brand new, and curiously enough, the lid has stopped that weird ticking noise it used to make as it heated. I can’t say enough good about this pot. We love it and use it TONS.

Well made
I purchased this to use with an Induction cooktop. It works very well, is sturdy and I like the clear cover. I mainly use it for soups, sauces and boiling water.

All-Clad-esque for half the price
We love to cook and thoroughly research all of our kitchen tools/appliances. Needing a stock pot, we started the search but quickly found All-Clad pricing at almost $300. So, we looked around and found this gem. For under a $100 it's an absolute steal! The pot is heavy duty, has a nice glass lid and cooks evenly. We've been using it for everything from boiling water for spaghetti to making soups and sauces. It cooks evenly and cleans up well. Highly Recommend!

Nice sturdy pot
I purchased this Calphalon pot because it was on sale. I was looking for a Calphalon 6 quart one but it was more expensive and the newer shape of the pot being tapered seemed inconvenient for some cooking applications. Even though this pot is 8 quarts it doesn't seem that way on the stove due to its configuration. My only complaint is that the handles get hot unlike the ones on my old commercial anodized pot. Otherwise the pot is easy to clean, a good weight to work with in the kitchen and seems durable.

Great Stock Pot
This pot has been a staple in my kitchen. I like the clad bottom of pot for even cooking. I can makeChili, Gumbo or a pot of soup. I really like it.

Great cooking pot however arrived with 2 dents
I have an older version of this style and decided to order a second one. The pot was packed in a regular cardboard box, not in its original packaging. Also had two dents in it, one small dent on the bottom of the pot and a larger dent on the lid. Didn’t notice the dents until I used it a couple of times. I suspect this was the reason for selling at a much lower price than retail. It’s a nice and sturdy cooking pot, and evenly cooks the food. Happy to own two of them now

same as all clad just less expensive
Always enjoyed cooking on cast iron and when my non stick pans began to wore out I decided to buy for a lifetime. Calphalon is very reputable my mom used there sauce pots and now so do I. I decieded to get a mix of stainless I spent more on my all clad frying pans as I believe this is where its important to have even heat distribution and something that can take more abuse. Pots are used mainly for sauces and boiling liquid (soup) and while i expected these to be lower quality than all clad I was wrong. They are top notch heavy 3 layer pots. They heat nice and even and I personally love the clear lid to check on my food as it cooks with out ruining the temperature. I ve read some complaints that water gets trapped in the lid which it does but after cleaning and letting it dry I found no water/liquid remaining. Learn to clean properly and these pots will last forever.
