A wonderful, broken, perfecty imperfect journey
4.5 starsThe Queen is the last book in The Masterpiece Duet and it’s so hard for me to write this review because I can’t believe this amazing series is over.First of all, I have to admit my expectations were crazy high, I’ve been waiting a long time for Damon and Penny’s story and after The King I was literally counting the days to my most anticipated book of 2017: The Queen. The story begins a couple of years after The King’s events and I don’t want to give much away because in an epic story like this one, too much information can clearly damage the reading experience, so forgive me for being a little vague. I think it started slow but it kept building and building. Penny is in college and like the baby genius she always was, she’s a superstar academically. But socially, not so much. She thinks of Damon a lot but she knows that Damon and Tanglewood come hand in hand and the more time she spends away from home, the more she can see a future away from the darkness of her hometown. Or the more she tries to convince herself that there’s a future away from Damon. But then there’s a catalyst. And Penny knows that something is going on in Tanglewood. Something wrong. Something that might involve her father, Avery and Gabriel. And of course Damon Scott. Will Penny be able to solve the most important puzzle in her life?Damon is leading his life like he always does. Always in control, commanding, dark and dangerous and forever lonely. Calculating, assessing, deflecting, ruling, protecting… But now, Penny’s in his doorstep again. Will Damon be able to protect her from the darkness this time?Penny has an amazing sense of loyalty and strength. I already loved her but now everything about her is even sharper and the way she sees through Damon’s facade is mind blowing. Damon is probably one of the most engaging and compelling characters ever! Insanely complex and strong (probably one of the strongest characters I’ve read about, particularly when he reveals his weaknesses), Damon shattered my heart repeatedly and then he would just turn around to glue it back together. Definitely unconventional, broken, damaged and yet absolutely captivating and magnetic. The chemistry and tension between Damon and Penny is intensely palpable, their connection is soul deep, all of their feelings are so raw and powerful that I was emotionally drained when I reached the end. I’ve got to say that the only reason I’m rating it 4.5 stars is because I felt that the story could go on a little longer, I wanted a little more… Maybe because my expectations were sky high or because I read it super fast but it did feel a little short. Maybe it’s just me.Anyway, I really loved The Queen and I’m inconsolable after the end of this alluring, brilliant series. I’m not ready to move on! That’s how much I loved Damon, Penny and their wonderful, broken, perfectly imperfect journey.

4 out of 5 psycho stars
I'm still digesting Queen, it may take me a few days to absorb as I read it so fast. I enjoyed King and looked forward to seeing the conclusion. It was both satisfying and a let down. Damon and Penny's relationship is so doomed and heartbreaking. Damon's father tortured and messed with his mind so much. It was beautiful and painful watching them together. Fair warning, there wasn't as much sex in Queen as you usually find in a Skye book. But the ending was sweet and satisfying. But, the whole story with Jonathon Scott felt so rushed, it was over before you knew it and I was left thinking, wait a minute, what happened and where was the big scene I expected? I guess we can't all have our cake and eat it too.

5 Glorious Stars!!
What do you say about one of the best series you've ever read that hasn't already been said? Skye Warren is the legit boss of the Dark Romance game. It is her realm as she has proven herself over and over to be the Queen. I have loved this series from the very beginning with The Pawn and have pretty much held on during this exhilarating ride all the way through The Queen. This novel was sexy, heart-pounding, suspenseful and nothing short of phenomenal. It is quite honestly one of the best books I have ever read.If you have followed this series from the beginning, you are quite aware of the fact that Penny and Damon have had an emotional and twisted history together for over thirteen years. It is filled with despair, pain and loss but also filled to the brim with unrelenting sacrifice, love and devotion. The Queen brings us the conclusion to the Masterpiece Duet and is the final chess piece in the Endgame series. It has been three long years since Damon's final move to keep Penny safe at the end of The King and she is now at Smith College. But what happens when sinister forces are once again at play in Tanglewood and a common enemy is making the final moves on the board to draw out the King and his Queen?I have loved Penny and Damon's story from the beginning because you could honestly feel their visceral connection towards each other. You knew that at whatever age Penny was, six, sixteen or even nineteen years old, she had a bond with Damon that could not be denied. She was equally drawn and repelled by him and despite the fact that their relationship was so push and pull over the years, he was inherently a part of her as her worst and best memories were centered around him.Furthermore, I loved that over the years despite what happened to both of them, they were stronger people as a result. Likewise, it was quite evident throughout this whole series that Penny was the exception to every rule that Damon made. She was his greatest weakness, his joy and ultimately his reason for existence. She gave him life when he no longer cared to live in the one he was suffering in. All in all this was a fantastic series and I look forward to more from this author in the future! I wish I could give it five million stars it was that fantastic! Bravo! 5 stars! ~Ratula

Goodness!! I'm still coming back down from this book. I sat down and didn't move until I finished. Oh Tanglewood, Damon Scott and Penny you'll be greatly appreciated and missed. I absolutely loved this book, it gave me everything. It made me angry, it broke my freaking heart it made Me longed for this broken person only to be disappointed over and over again. I understood Penny, how she was drawn to him even with their difficult, unhealthy, very disturbed dysfunctional relationship and past... But I rooted for them I swear I felt like I needed them to find the freaking light, they were killing me. The twists and turns the ups and downs, I mean the downs and downs, lol. This was addictive, amazing and well written. It tore my heart up in pieces and put it back together over and over and I loved every minute of it. I'm sad to see it end but very satisfied with the beginning, middle and end. Definitely Click on this one, I promise you won't be disappointed.

Perfect ending to an unconventional love story
Wow !!! What a rollercoaster of a conclusion to Penny & Damons story so much so that at one point I wasn't certain that we would have a happy ending . As Damons father Johnathan was now locked up in a secure mental institution somehow he managed to carry on his evil sadistic ways from there , we learnt that he had actually taken over the facility and the patients were now his puppets and all the staff were there for his sadistic enjoyment he'd also had his daughter Avery abducted and brought there . Penny & Damon made their way to the institution to get Avery out and for what was to be a final showdown with Johnathan , thankfully Avery had managed to escape with the others that were being held whilst Penny & Damon were en route but the final confrontation went ahead . The story is quite dark in places because of the content of sadistic abuse especially so when you read of how badly Damon was abused by his own father but if you can get past that then they are a good series of books to read the ............ and yes the ending was perfect .

Fantastic
I absolutely loved this series.Penny and Damon will take you on a rollercoaster of emotions when they bring you into their lives. Their story opens up and dissects just how far each one has come, survived and evolved.Skye Warren brings us some very intriguing Heroes, Heroines and Villians. Oh how I love a very diverse villain.

Riveting
This series is best read as one book from the Endgame Trilogy, the King and finally the Queen to fully appreciate the depth of the characters. The pasts of Gabrielle & Damon bring about the fierce protectiveness they feel toward the women they come to love.Although Penny and Avery grow up on different sides of the city their stories are similar enough that they become the strong smart women they need to be to survive and love.I love the characters and the way they work together.I just wish there was a warning of cliff hangers or the option to buy all the books as one set. I also feel as though The Queen ended abruptly even with the epilogue. Perhaps Skye Warren can bring us more of the two couples in a special story or a crossover in anther story?

The Queen
Wow! Just. Wow!I totally devoured this series. I went without food and sleep. If I had to deal with 'real life' I would suffer withdrawal symptoms. I kid you not! I needed to read these books, more than I needed my next breath. I would get antsy, wondering when I would be able to get back to the book! This is the best feeing in the world for me, as a reader. It really does not get any better than that.Skye Warren created a perfect world with Gabriel and Damon, and now I need a move to Tanglewood. This book ripped my heart out then stuffed it back in, all scarred and bruised. Thank you Skye Warren. These two series are, without a doubt, going to be in my top reads for 2018.
