Gets you going with the ABRSM course nice!

The fact that the pieces stay the same for years means that this is a great book to buy. Either use it for the Jazz grades or don’t but when I was doing associates board piano exams years ago if you didn’t do the exam in the same year as the book was from all your work was wasted and you had to start learning new pieces for the next years exam requirements. As far as I can see the Jazz grade pieces are the jazz grade pieces year after year... no change annually. Plus the (Mostly classical)music wasn’t as enjoyable as these tunes. Book had a few pencil scribbles and a bent cover so not perfect but fine.

If you're a beginner and are tired of the boring classical/dreadful crossover/tedious childrens pieces hauled out time after time in all the other beginners piano books, then this is for you. It's got brilliant new compositions and excellent arrangements of beautiful jazz songs. The guys that did it are musicians and educators who clearly know their stuff and have adapted the pieces in such a way that they're very simple but also sound genuinely lovely - some of the chords make you say 'ooh yeah, that's nice man!':) Anyway, it's not a tutor book, so it doesn't tell you what the notes are, or have pictures of where the notes are on the keyboard. Unfortunately you need either the old boring books or a good teacher for all that stuff. With this book, you'll just love practising, and that's what it's all about anyway. Now get back to it! Ha only joking, order this, then get back to it. Hope this helps.

A really excellent book - tempted to say Niiiiiicccce!contains real Standards for you to learn, like perdido, inch worm, Jean Pierre by Miles Davis plus a number of blues pieces and some more modern stuff.check out YouTube to find the abrsm play list of the pieces to help with timing and improv above the Base line

Recommended by the piano teacher so must be good, arrived quickly enough to avoid my daughter being told off for not having her book
