Garmin Additional BC30 Wireless Backup Camera and Transmitter Cable

All I wanted was a replacement camera because the 4 year old one had gone foggy,But you have to buy the transmitter as well, but all in all its a good product.

The Garmin BC30 additional reversing camera (NO receiver) works well with the host  010-12242-00 BC30 wireless reversing camera kit  (includes receiver). Instructions are good. The lens has a wide angle so nothing is missed, but the system is limited by the poor image quality.The integration with my Garmin Nuvi 2599LMT-D Sat-nav works perfectly.. Camera is easily aimed with the wide angle lens.. Transmitter seems to work equally well from anywhere in the boot.. No wires need be threaded through from the back of the car.. The guide-lines can be easily adjusted to define the required space behind the car.. It switches on automatically when reverse is selected.. More BC30 cameras can be added, and the sat-nav will know about them.It needs a receiver, only supplied in the replacement sat-nav power lead of the host kit.However, while it is adequate to see obstructions when parking, the camera is let down by the image quality which loses it the star on the rating. Resolution is low even on the small screen of the sat-nav, motion is blocky, and shading is coarsely quantised in low light or darker areas.

I fitted one of these to a Campervan - it worked well for the first 2 years - really nice clear picture when reversing.19=8 months ago this would have got a 4 or 5 star review.Recently, however, it provides a picture like you are looking through thick fog - useless for safe reversing. (Yes, I have cleaned the lens!).No help whatsoever from Garmin.Not at all happy, because I have installed it (difficult access to wiring) and will now have to pay about another £80.00 and try to retrofit.
