Useful for helping Year One reading
I already had the Reception words pack from the same series - this pack doesn't contain the 45 most common words that kids are supposed to be able to sight-read by the end of Reception. I would recommend buying that pack first then buy this pack once your child can read those ones confidently. I bought this pack for my son as he went into Year One, and it's very useful in helping him practise the words he'll need to be able to sight-read next. I keep all the packs in a biscuit tin with a big square lid, so that he can use the lid as the 'magnetic board' when he's sentence building with them. The words themselves are small, so it's not a suitable present for very young children.

Magnetic Words etc.
I bought the National Literacy Magnetic Words triple pack for my grandson-and do NOT consider it a toy! It a a learning tool.Very good too, although the magnetic board (bought separately) could have been much larger.

Poorly thought out word choices
Good magnets but the words you’re given aren’t really useful for making interesting sentences. Also there’s an “if” but not enough modal words to make proper if statements, I’m also looking for more pronouns to actually use as subjects! What’s the point? Not as a vocabulary list but something to MAKE SENTENCES WITH.

Useful magnetic aid for literacy
I find using the Magnetic Words a great help in trying to teach child with ASD spellings. Use the words on an magnetic easel and on small magnetic boards where child is able to write alongside and at the same time being able to see what the letters look like. Using white boards saves on paper. It is possible to use the letters on radiators. Older child could use the letters to make their own sentences, put weekdays and seasons in correct sequences.

Use your brain...
We gave this to our 5 yr old for Christmas and put them on the fridge with other packs. We find ourselves - all of us - trying to work out sentences, leave messages, etc. They look a lot tidier than the alphabet letters we had on there, and much more interesting! She is learning all of her words with more fun and with all the family.

Needs verbs
Good but needs way more verbs to make it interesting
