Allparts Silver 500K No-Load Tone Pot

Excellent. Like it more than Fender version. There is some misinformation in some other reviews, so I want to set things straight for laymen. This pot doesn't make the tone darker. The capacitor does that. Like all pots in tone circuits, the amount of high end that rolls off depends on the value of the capacitor and frequency response of the pickup in the circuit. This pot is special because it very smoothly allows more high frequencies through until the capacitor is no longer rolling off any highs. There is no click that holds it at max because it's not necessary. It's very smooth. If you find it is muddy put in a different cap. If it's too trebley, go back to a regular pot. If you feel like you want to run it all the time at max, take the tone pot out of the circuit.

Actually more like a rheostat than a pot. Took a little redesign of the guitar tone circuit I used it in but outcome was great. Takes tone circuit completely out of electrical path so you get the pure tone from just the pickups. I would have preferred it to be a sealed pot but open is ok. Good price too.

This is a great quality pot, and the no load feature really opens up the tone of the pickup.There is a noticeable difference. The sweep is great as usual from CTS, but bypassing the tone does wonders and actually forces me to ride the volume pot and get tones from there too.All in all, it's just a great upgrade/mod to your instrument.

I recently ordered a couple of no-load CTS 500k pots--one of them for a friend's guitar which needs help retaining treble for high gain playing.I made the mistake of not testing the pots on the multimeter before wiring the first one in, or else it would have saved me a great deal of frustration. I kept checking my work, tidying up solder joints, verifying that my circuit was solid. I checked the circuit but it kept returning OL (no continuity) on the multimeter. Finally narrowed it down to the volume pot. Took the pot off the guitar and tested it. Same result.To verify I wasn't crazy, I tested a brand new CTS 500k pot (a regular pot, not a no-load) recently shipped from another vendor. It tested at normal tolerance.Then I opened up and tested the second no-load pot shipped by The Art of Tone. Same result as with the first--it did not register on the multimeter.The lesson for me here is to test every pot before it goes into a guitar. I took it for granted that a brand new pot would be reliable out of the package, and now this has me doubting.I have no beef with The Art of Tone. I have ordered from them several times in years past without issue. But two transactions this year have been unsatisfactory. In April I received a pot from them that was kind of dodgy, and now to find both pots are bad in the same shipment is unacceptable. They're going back for a refund.

I put a set of these into a '79 Washburn A20-V guitar and the owner was very pleased. He said they were smooth in turning from 0-10 and sounded as good as when the guitar was new.

Pot works, lets the natural tone of the pickups come through. Not a fan of the taper, it sounds all the way open until you get about half way down the dial, then the treble drops of sharply between like 5 and 3. Then between 3 and zero it’s pure mud. I usually play wide open anyway but it’d be nice to have some better versatility. An alternate wiring scheme might help a little with that. Also, the split shaft is very short, hard to fit a knob on there.
