Hated to resort to this, but it was the best tool for the job.

My domestic shorthair cat was refusing to cooperate with her Frontline treatment, which she seems to hate. Last time, she leapt away and didn't get the full dose, and I knew I was going to have to do something to subdue her someday. This throw net seemed like a nice idea, along with some cat handling gloves. The net was six feet in diameter and had two inch spacing. I took the net and had my gloves on and backed up to her while she was in one of her cat trees. I tried to nuzzle her paw with my ear but she supinated her paw and raked her claws over my ear just hard enough to prove she knew I was up to something. She has never done such a thing. Later on, she was 12 days overdue for her treatment, and one night she came back inside and waited by an interior door as usual to be let into the rest of the house. Normally I would just open the door but during the preceding week, I would turn on the light and mess with the net, which I had previously draped over a shelving unit near the door. From a tactical standpoint, the cat was in a tight spot. She could back up into the corner behind her, or try to race past me through a choke-point a couple feet wide into the rest of the room. I had turned on the light but instead of letting her inside, I quickly extended the net across this tactical choke-point. The cat, perhaps thinking this was a mere blanket or something, raced head on, deep into the net, as if it would move aside under her forceful advance. I quickly got down and cinched up the open end of the net and gently picked her up, took her to the next room, and laid her on a table. It was a bit of a struggle but having this net was very, very convenient. I did not pick her up by the net but did have it wrapped around her. In just a few moments I managed to apply the full dose. I was worried she could not breathe because her head came through one of the holes in the net and it was around her neck. She reassured me by howling in protest. Instead of trying to work my agitated cat back out of the net, I decided to grab a pair of scissors I had within reach and I proceeded to cut her out of the net very gently. After a few snips the cat leapt off the table and was back in the next room where I was able to play with her and try to keep her from licking at the spot where her treatment had been applied. I noticed that the leading edge of one of her ears was a bit raw. My biggest worry was that she was not limping, and she wasn't. While I felt bad about the whole thing, the last time I tried to force my cat into a cat carrier I ended up getting scratched. Probably the nicest thing about this net was that the cat was able to apply the force she felt was needed, and knew when to surrender. This feels better than me actually putting my hands on her and not knowing how much force is needed to get her under control yet keep from hurting her or ending up getting hurt myself. Thank you for this fine product. I would change the name to tactical net instead of throw net in order to keep people from wondering how to throw this at a cat.

needs detailed instructions

instructions on exactly how to throw/use this are a necessity, yet did NOT come with the product. Good luck finding them on youtube as well...seem to only show fishing cast net instructions. This net much heavier/

difficult to throw

Very difficult to throw properly, weighted edge is hard to manage (although needed).

Three Stars

Doesn’t work on feral cats. Maybe this would catch a chicken? Very expensive.
