Works Great in Texas Summer Heat
I bought 2 of these. I keep one in the refrigerator in a container in water at all times and the other I am either wearing or have it hanging up in my locker. Then I alternate them. This thing sucks the heat out of my head even when chainsawing in Texas summer heat when it's well over 100 degrees F with no breeze. (We are still clearing trees that died in last year's record breaking drought.) It is very comfortable. I put this on under my hard hat and I use it with a camel hydration pack on my back that I first fill completely with ice and then fill the remainder with water. The two together allow me to work a long time in the direct sun because they literally suck the excess heat from my body. After working in the hot sun, I actually feel better than I did before I started, so long as I don't push it to far, because I stayed cool with this hard hat liner and the hydration pack and I drank all the water in the hydration back to keep fully hydrated. I convinced a co-worker to do the same and neither of us knows of a safer way to work in the summer heat.

I wear a 7 3/8 hat, and this is just a bit tight. I tend to put it on, then put my hard hat on over it rather than strap it inside the hat, as it's so tight on my head. That said, when it's cooled properly, I definitely feel the difference on hot days!

Didn't stay cool
This insert is comfortable and easy to use, but my husband didn't find it to be as advertised for length of cooling expected. It heated quickly on the job and was little better than a non cooling pad...I wouldn't invest the money again.

I use this under my soft Ultimate, Columbia or COSTCO hat with a wide rim. I keep it wet, it keeps me cool. I work as an A/C tech on hot roofs in hot weather.

Not Good
Heat makes me sick so I have been trying to find ways to keep cool. I purchased these hat inserts and at first it worked great. I have found that if you let it dry out completely then it becomes useless. It can not be reactivated. After my first one dried out and I could not reactivate it, I went to use the second one but it was already dried out and could not be activated. Total waste of money. Both went into the garbage.

Very comfortable
I have a big melon and hard hats have always been uncomfortable for me. I have no need to wet this ahead of time. I used to wear a large bandana under my hat, but would forget it. This liner attaches with velcro to the support straps, and stays in my hat. no issues with difficulty getting it on. Mine does not stick out from underneath to an extent that it makes it look silly. Even if it did, I would probably still use it. Comfort first.

Hat Liner
This is a cloth that lines the in side of your hat. It absorbs a lot of sweat. Not having it run down my face is a plus, and because it stores sweat when wind blows it evaporates it leaving my head extra cool.
