I have been trying to find the perfect budget ballhead for my bag that I can use ...

So my main ballheads are between 50 and 60mm and are very, very expensive.I have been trying to find the perfect budget ballhead for my bag that I can use for my B cams for sliderwork for lighter mirrorless cameras. At this point I probably should have just spent the $$$ and bought the namebrand the first time, but at least it was for science. This ballhead is amazing for the price. Definitely worth 5 stars. The tension knob works and the motion of the socket is very smooth, and it definitely can support a DSLR. The spec sheet says this thing can take 20lbs...and while that might be true in a certain sense (before failure) I would say it is rock solid for a DSLR and a full frame 24-70 lens. Which I can't believe but it is.Don't buy another small ballhead--this is the best one for under 60 bucks...and it is waaaay under 60 bucks. If you have more money to spend, then look at Siruii, and if money is no object, then RRS is your best bet. But I can't believe how good this one is for 25 bucks!

Amazing quality at this price point

I was looking for a decent ball head for my monopod that wouldn't break the bank. I wasn't familiar with the sinnofoto brand but based on the glowing reviews I decided to pull the trigger. I couldn't be happier that I did. This is an amazing product at this price point. Smooth head and solid lock up with a very nice fit and finish. Hard to believe in this day and age you can still purchase this kind of quality for twenty four bucks.

Excellent ball head for the price, could use some improvements

I was looking for a smaller ball head to replace a much larger and unwieldy unit that I have used for years. I was a bit skeptical of what I would receive at this price point but went ahead based on the high relative number of positive reviews. I was also looking for a unit with a handle which this has. I am pleasantly surprised with the quality of this ball head. Despite its small size it is very stable and locks securely. It looks kinda ridiculous on my Manfrotto tripod due to its small size, the three screws that secure the old ball head are outside the diameter of the base of this, but it works very well with a full size DSLR and lens on top.The only improvements I can think of are:- The addition of a knob to control the drag when panning but this of course would increase the cost.- Reduce the amount of backlash in the screw that unlocks the ball. There is about 1/4 turn of lash in the locking screw where it turns very freely before it begins to loosen the ball lock and when it does loosen it loosens very quickly and the camera can move unexpectedly.- Angle the handle out to the side about 45 degrees and maybe make it an inch longer. This would assist controlling the movement of the camera radially when the ball is loosened.

This is perfect

If you are looking for a pan head that is simple, extremely well made, compact, easy to carry, can mount on 1/4" or 3/8", look no further. And oh, a quick release plate, (I normally hate) that you can lock down so it won't move even a fraction of an inch, here it isI would give it 7 stars. Man I'm happy with this pan head. I mounted my Swarovski 15x56 binoculars on it today. Heavy binoculars that need to be steady to get the most use from the. This pan head held them like a rock. I was glassing Coues Whitetail in the rugged Arizona Catalina's a mile away and could tell rack side. So much better than anything else I have tried.

Reliable and incredible value for the money.

I'm a professional photographer, and I like gear that will stand up to heavy use. I have a ton of ball heads for various tripods and mounts. The bigger ones are solid, most of the smaller ones are sketchy. This one is rock solid. At $22 it's a STEAL for the value. An Arca-Swiss-style quick release plate works with all my other gear, and it has bubble levels built in. It doesn't need them, but it has them anyway. With a super clamp, I can place the camera on anything and I'm confident that even my SLRs are solid on this. I'm really stoked on this thing, it's already being used in commercial shoots.

for the price I don't think this head can be ...

for the price I don't think this head can be beaten...it is smooth, solid and has all the features...even comes with the adapter to fit both narrow and normal tripod studs...being aluminum makes it lighter than many though it is not the lightest available...knobs are appropriately sized and designed to be gripped well. I use this head on a small flexible travel tripod with a Fuji xt-2 mirrorless camera and it has no issues with that size camera or relative weight. Shipping was prompt...virtually no complaints.

Outstanding ballhead for the price

I initially bought one of these, because it looked like it would be a low cost version for my applications. After receiving the first one, I loved it. I used it to mount a camcorder on a super clamp. The camcorder also had an external microphone attached and the ball head held both securely. After this test, I purchased two more. I think that this ball head is an excellent product, and it is well built. It holds tightly to the super clamp and the adjustment knobs grip the ball and the plate quite well.Highly recommended.

No transitional friction when loosening the knob

Let me start with what bothered me the most, which is that when you loosen the main knob, the friction drops off abruptly. In other tripod heads that I have, there is a gradual transition. So the camera will drop if not fully supported. This undesirable mobility also makes the short handle useless as it's difficult to control anything except maybe something very light, like a cell phone.Once you tighten the ball, it seems solid. I put on it my Sony a7 with fairly light lens and it held it without problem. The bottom has 1/4 inch thread, which is smaller than what regular heads have. So if your tripod has a 3/8 inch screw you will need a 3/8 inch female to 1/4 inch male adaptor. Strangely, the package included a 1/4 inch female to 3/8 inch male adaptor. Seems like someone said an adaptor is needed but didn't specify the gender. The finish is a bit rough, though not a problem. The tripod head is skinnier (I guess that's possible since ball is smaller) and a bit shorter than a typical head. I weighed it on my kitchen scale, it's 314 grams (11 oz) compared to an Oben at 404 grams (14 oz).In conclusion, less than I expected, but usable.
