50mm version - 3 months usage vs regular padlock - CLEAR WINNER
Got the 50mm version of this I believe for an outdoor garage.I also got a cheaper outdoor padlock, it is different style from a different company. Product wise but they were both advised as "outdoor" and "Weatherproof"The Yale lock is clearly in the lead after 3 - 4 months of use in the wet British winter.- Yale has no signs of rust whereas the other lock is beginning to rust where the lock goes into the padlock body- Yale mechanism feels smooth as butter whilst the other lock is starting to stick- Yale feels much more durable and hardwearing - I can imagine it will outlive the other lock with ease!- Yale came with 3 keys whilst the other only came with 2As for the Yale product on its own:- Safer design - the plastic "shielding" as I call it covers the lock to prevent the bolt being cut- Attractive design in my opinion (not that I stare at it all day...)- heavy duty and appears to be surviving well outside!I actually think if someone was to break into my garage it would be easier to break the lock off itself rather than the padlock.

Might last years but WILL rust
This padlock is heavy for its size, with a plastic shroud covering the brass body. I bought this in august 2019 and the steel shackle is already rusting. Given that it has been drier than usual since purchase and has been used for only 11 months (under an outside roof so zero rain falling on it) I am disappointed that the rusting has already started.I have an ABUS shutter block type (brass body) that is over 5 years old now, that is far more exposed and is free of ANY rust on the shackle. Guess which one I will be buying in the future for other sheds etc.

Lasted just over a year now mechanism is faulty
At first sight this looks a very good and substantial lock. I used it for just over a year as a shed lock and then it just started getting difficult to close and now has to be replaced or I will wreck the shed fittings as I try to close it. There is no sign of rust and opening is no problem so something has gone wrong with the mechanism. Not fit for purpose when something like this fails in that timescale.

Great value, very secure padlock
Needed some very secure padlocks for my sheds. These were great value, although was a bit worried about how secure they would be and if they would survive being outside. But was pleasantly surprised when I took these out of the packs, they come with a few keys so plenty of spares. They feel strong and robust, they lock and unlock with ease and weather well. The outer plastic casing can move slightly so the lock may not go in properly however this will maybe only happen if you drop or are very vigorous with them, easily moved back into position and away you go again. I would buy these immediately when I next need some and would happily recommend.

Just what I needed
This Yale Closed Shackle Lock is quite heavy and looks well made - it's supplied with three keys which is a bonus. The lock is easy to open and close. Although the lock is weatherproof and features a plastic jacket, it seems strange that there's no cover over the keyhole although so far it's been fine on my back gate. In summary, a good value lock which feels robust and is easy to operate.
