Perfectly sized display. With its high-resolution E Ink PearlTM 8-inch and 4:3 ratio display inkBOOK 8 is well suited for textbooks, magazines, comic books, web pages and e-books reading. The 8-inch display offers a lot more screen real-estate than traditional 6-inch e-readers. This translates to more content on one page, less manual page-turns, and extended battery life. Powerful. inkBOOK is equipped with cutting-edge hardware and Android 4.2 that take system performance to an all-time high. Opening apps or files takes less time improving your reading experience. Install favorite apps. As one of few in the world, inkBOOK 8 lets you install third-party apps which can make turn your device into a super-reader. * Multiple file format support. inkBOOK 8 allows you to open the most popular file and document formats such as EPUB (with Adobe DRM), PDF and more. Weeks without charging. One of the biggest advantages of an e-paper display is its low power consumption. Once charged battery lasts weeks, not hours. ** Read comfortably at night. Rather than using backlighting like that of LCD screens, the inkBOOK 8 uses lights set into the bezel at the bottom of the display to shine down onto the screen, protecting your eyes. Set the brightness level you like the most or turn the light off. * Third-party applications may require additional actions e.g registering an account, purchasing subscriptions. Some functions are/may be limited for some regions. Third-party applications are supported by their developers. Midiapolis App Store may be available depending on a model and/or after firmware update. Some functions are/may be limited for some regions. ** inkBOOK provides up to 8,000 page turns. 30 minutes of reading per day, wireless turned off, front light turned off, the device was switched off after reading session was over. Actual battery life may vary and depends on usage and other factors.

Finally 8" e-ink reader
I was so exited to get an 8" e-ink display. Which was my only reason to buy. I have owned many kindles before, and always it ends up by selling it because of the small screen size. For the price I have paid, the inkBook is acceptable for me, the screen size is good, resolution is not wow but it is ok.I believe that the software needs a lot of enhancements and bug fixing, specially for PDF documents. Some times when trying to go the next page, it ends up zooming the current page with a big hassle trying to zoom it out again, which can be fixed by killing the app or restarting the whole device to fix this. Also It would be nice to be able to change the screen orientation from the system menu, since most of the PDF readers depends on the hardware accelerator to set the orientation, which is not a feature of the ink book 8.If inkBook wants to gain market share with its competitive advantage (screen size), they should support their device and continuously enhance the software.H K

Perfect for a grad student's needs
I've been looking for a reader that will work for reading and annotating scholarly .pdf articles, and this fits the bill perfectly. After installing the firmware update, I downloaded Dropbox (joy of joys, to have Dropbox on an e-reader!) and the Adobe Reader software and they work beautifully. My only complaint is that I wish the Adobe Reader app had an option to manually change the screen's orientation, as this reader lacks the usual orientation sensors -- but that is a limitation of the Adobe software, not one of the device itself. If you're looking for an Android tablet, I'm not sure this is the product for you, but if you've previously been frustrated by the limitations of commonly-available e-readers, this is a godsend.

Decent replacement for the Kindle DX
I was a long-time Kindle DX owner, and was sad when it finally died on a trip. There was no way I was going back to a 6" screen after the DX's huge screen, so I decided to try the inkBook 8.I was pleasantly surprised by this eReader. I was super skeptical of Android and battery life, but battery life is pretty exceptional if you leave WiFi off. The GUI isn't terribly good, so I installed the Kindle app on it to get something a little better. Performance is acceptable - it's not instant-on like the Kindle DX was, but I don't find it too annoying. Keep in mind that I was using this as a pure e-Reader - it's not at all usable as a general purpose tablet.

Very good e-reader. So so as a tablet.
I purchased two of these devices for reading large textbook pdf. files. I also equiped them both with a 32 GB SD card. They work well for reading books and are excellent for reading .pdf files. Previously I had tried to use the Kindle paperwhite to read the same pdf files and it would constantly throw low memory errors and close. The InkBook has handled even the 700 plus heavy picture filled science books with ease. Now for the bad.....I was not able to download Google Play, Kindle, or Amazon Appstore to this device. And the app store included has very few English options. Also I could not even open the book store included on the device. Which was fine with me, as I already had the books I wanted to use the devices for. However others may have an issue finding books. The only other issue I have had is one of the two InkBook looses connection to the SD card every time it shuts down, so you have to eject the SD card and remount it, to get access to the books loaded on it. This isn't a major issue as the SD card is easily accessible. As a tablet it works so so. The screen is designed with a slower refresh rate, so it works well for browsing, email, news stories, and pages that don't have video contenet. My children use them to do school work on the Moby Max site and iXL both work without problems. My favorite aspect is the e-ink screen. I bought it for screen size. (my kids don't have to squint to read theor textbooks) I also love that they are not ruining their eyes on an LCD screen.

Don't know why others gave bad reviews but in my opinion
Don't know why others gave bad reviews but in my opinion, this is one of the best e-ink readers out there. It is affordable too! Been using this for days and never felt reading on an e-reader as enjoyable as with this device. This is my second e-reader and hope this will last longer. So here are the pros:It has a large 8" screen - Just perfect as I am actually using it to read manga and comics. Reading novels is good as well.It runs on Android - Inkbook 8" runs on Android 4.2 Jellybean so of course you can install android apps for ereading which you prefer other than the default ones installed. It has Wi-Fi - Wi-Fi connectivity is a big plus as you can use it to download apps from store, files from cloud, etc.It has backlight - Reading at night won't be a problem!Touchscreen - Others may prefer physical buttons while others may prefer touch. But touchscreen is very responsive!Very easy to load EPUB files you already have - Just plug your Inkbook to you computer then drag and drop!Music player- Since it is capable of playing mp3 files, you can use headphones to immerse on audiobooks or songs.Very compact and lightweight - It's easy to carry around and has a nice texture to it.Good battery life - as expected on ereaders, battery life lasts long but do turn off wi-fi and backlight if unnecessary.Meanwhile the con is: E-ink Pearl is a little grayish - Text are a bit grayish in my opinion but not a dealbreaker since it's still clear and very visible.Very happy to have made this purchase! This e-reader is just so perfect! I do hope Inkbook can improve the screen (make it E-ink Carta at least) and make the Midiapolis store better. Also, if you're gonna buy this, do buy also the the protective cover.

Hopefully a new model will fix the flaws.
It would be fine for people who are OK sideloading software for android. Or are OK with what was provided. The screen is pretty clear but not as good as say the last few generations of Kindles. The whites on the one I received was more eggshell. The micro-usb port for charging is on the top and it didn't sit securely, the device did reboot on me randomly without any third party software added. Maybe next time, I really wanted to like this as I was looking for a e-ink android device!

other epub files it reads fine, and there is no problem with the pdf ...
The reader is a little slow to react when i tab the screen to change page, when i tab again it turns two pages. It seems it can't reed the metadata in some of my epub files, other epub files it reads fine, and there is no problem with the pdf files.all metadata is controlled in epubmetadataeditor, and i can't se anything different in the files i can read, and the files it can't read.

Good book reader, but problem.
Good build quality and a great screen to read on.But I've had to send mine back and get a refund, because some times it took 5 - 6 taps of the screen to turn the page. Very annoying.

...again, I forgot the charger and it's not needed
Looks fine and work well, exception to smal bugs, but nothing to worry about...
