Timothy Samara is an outstanding author of Graphic Design material. He presents things in a way that is easy to understand. This book is a reference manual- easy to refer to in a pinch. It is great for a beginner or a seasoned veteran. From color explanations and suggestions that work, icons, page layout, image variations, textures, patterns, and more. This book has it all. This book is great if you are trying to design something and want to do something different or just need a fresh perspective. I have bought other books by Timothy Samara and I cannot recommend his material enough. Absolutely outstanding!

Art Director
Of all the books out there about graphic design this one really covers everything well. This is a great book for anyone starting out in the design field and people who have been designing for years.

Great writing
I really love Samara's writing. He clarifies difficult concepts in a way I didn't learn in school. If this is just a retread of Graphic Stew, then that's a shame for those who own both. If you don't own either, I think it's a must have. I just wish there was MORE writing to balance out the many pages of reference material.

Identical to "Graphic Stew" 2010
It really makes me mad when publishers rename a book and release it as NEW with no disclosure. This book is identical to the 2010 hardcover "Graphic Stew." Yes, I recognized some of the innards with the second purchase, but these publishing houses often borrow from previous pubications...lots of repeats. I hadn't looked at Graphic Stew recently enough to recognize the two as spot-on identical. My regard and respect for both Rockport and Timothy Samara has fallen to a new low. How can an author approve such a deceptive move unless the motive is purely a financial one? Bad, bad, bad...

Expanding Design horizons
Timothy Samara does it again. I love every book of his that I've read, & purchased many of them, too. This book is one that will stay in easy reach of my work area, so I can reference it for Type, color combos, icons, patterns, layouts... There is a review of all of my schooling in here.Gotta go, time to design!
