We bought this for my wife's mother to assist her with getting up and down the stairs. It was a little difficult to install because I had to drill into the concrete. Make sure you get top quality concrete drill bits. I started out with the cheap ones and it chewed them up in no time. I used the hardware that came with it and it seems to be holding very well. I've had several people walk up the stairs and really pull on the handrail and it continues to be very sturdy. As you can see in the pictures, I anchored it in the concrete and not brick. Overall a very high quality product with a nice finish. I can always repaint it if it gets worn.

Down side first. Directions were not great. For masonry drill you will need to drill with a 3/8 or 10mm drill the full length of the mason studs. Not shorter. The mason studs are 9/16 and we used different wood lag bolts but the ones provided were nice. In terms of sturdiness, it is very nice. The directions, other than listed above, we’re good. Easy to assemble. Last point. Finger tight the bolts on the hinges until you have it installed. Then tighten after assembly.

Overall this is a good product that is attractive. However, since we live in a 60s era house and neighborhood, the installation was not as easy as described. In a perfect scenario where everything is level, there would have been no problem. Since our house is not, it took the installer a bit of time to complete the work. His experience made it all work.

Sturdy and easy to assemble. Based on other reviews I didn’t use the provided anchors and bought my own. Make sure you take your time measuring and marking the holes. Better to have two people during that process. If you don’t the rail moves around on you and your measurements might be off a little. Just use common sense and take your time.

I am heart broken and mad at the same time. We only had my railing up for 4 weeks and it is splitting! How does steel/ iron split. I want something done about this, like a new railing

The fixture is powder coated steel, the handrail is very substantial, and I was pleased with the price. I bought it and had it installed in a couple of hours for less than $300.

Very nice finish and heavy materials. Install was a breeze.
