It's been mentioned before that the latch is the weakest part of this. First, the latch LOOKS like you should pull on it. That's a problem because that's the last thing you want to do with it. Because if you pull hard enough on it then it comes away from the lock. And really that's part of the overall problem with this anyway isn't it? The latch should be very sturdy. It's the most important part.Here's what I'd do to make this better:1. Fix the latch. The screws from the lock to the latch should be longer and stronger and really who needs the latch? It is just for fastening the lock. Just have something to screw the lock into. Shouldn't even be removable but part of the box itself.2. Spring on the door. This is a nice to have. If there was a spring on the door then you could remotely unlock the door and that would have it spring open. Sometimes you may have more than one package arriving. First delivery person closed the box and then second is probably going to try to get in the box (and will break the latch).

I bought thus thinking it would be a good way to prevent package theft and having packages left out in the rain. Nope. The delivery people including Amazon ignore it and the box periodically locks itself and refuses to unlock. Right now it's locked and I just spent 45 minutes trying to sign in to the app which won't recognize my password and won't accept a new one. I now have a really expensive, huge, useless plastic box outside my door.

When I first purchased this I was dealing with a few issues with and had my doubts but after contacting customer service, working out the kinks, and updating the app it works great for me. I mainly bought for situations of keeping my package safe and dry and I have no complaints on how my box operates. Mailmen/Mailwomen are actually happy I did purchase it because sometimes they can run out of bags to keep your package from getting super wet! Plus unlocking/locking from my app is so much more simpler and I filled the bottom up for weight so good luck trying to lift the box to take it plus having cameras around it makes me feel a lot more at ease. I recommend getting one! Hopefully you have the same results I did if not better.

We are using it, and usually it works. Occasionally it has not locked after being shut by the delivery person. Someone could carry it off, but I think it isn't likely. The novelty is probably the best part. We feel so smart compared to our neighbors.

Got limited use. It wasn't being opened and closed every day. Maybe once or twice a week.Lock no longer functions and hasn't for quite some time. It lasted about 6 months.It is out of.the elements. It wasn't getting rained on....it's not in direct sunlight. No reason for it to not work as expected...and last for a good, long while.App says the lock needs to be "calibrated". Followed all instructions online, to a tee. No help.Tried multiple times....no help.Contacted Yale customer service.....no help.Box is still in its place and occasionally gets used by delivery personnel...but it doesn't lock and is still subject to theft.Only positive is that it's a slight visual deterrent. People don't try it, because they expect it's locked.But its not trustworthy and YALE has been of ZERO help.They won't even honor the warranty because I bought it through Amazon.I will never buy one again and would recommend everyone stay away from this unit.

Easy to use

The item arrived at my home in a timely manner, but was missing the main locking unit that makes the product function as it's intended use.

When I ordered this I didn’t expect I to use tools to set it up because I am familiar with step 2 toys /playsets and they pretty much just fit together like puzzle pieces but this is a little different and has security in mind so there is some actual hardware to put together. It suggest drilling holes through the bottom for drainage in case the box gets drenched inside. Some of the screws didn’t line up with the holes but we did manage to get them through it took two people. No box doesn’t sit totally straight on the pedestal so they do have some manufacturing issues they could improve.After the set up is said and done I like the product and the app lock is working really well. If you open it -when you shut it it locks! The Wi-Fi connector is small and also easy to use. And you unlock with the app. I’m still getting used to the app and the programming so it’s not totally self-explanatory how to set the profiles to do different things and how to get notifications . But it does work.I think it should come with the tether so someone can’t run off with it but that’s an extra 10 bucks separate purchase.This does give me some peace of mind not just so people don’t steal my packages or deliveries but also that my neighbors aren’t looking at my packages sitting on my stoop just being nosy. It enhances privacy and keeps the mail out of the elements. Of course the box is not huge and there are plenty of packages that will not fit in it.UpdateI downgraded the rating. I finally got the bridge working on the app but now that I do I cannot get the app to lock. Automatic locking isn’t working and the app erases my selections. I’m waiting for customer service response, I’ve already contacted them. They are somewhat responsive but I’m tired of fiddling with this .
