Well, I must say, this is a nice little conversation piece!I had my eye on the MOVA Globe for some time, and when my sister and some friends gave me some Amazon gift cards, I thought -- why not?I didn't realize that this globe is actually a globe surrounded by clear fluid, encased in an acrylic outer shell.In other words, the inner globe rotates in an almost friction-free environment, powered by room or sunlight.The only difficulty I encountered setting up the MOVA was trying to get the brown paper backing off both sides of the base before inserting the three support posts. I finally used some WD40 degreasing spray, which helped loosen up the brown paper's adhesive.MOVA might consider reducing the size of the paper backing a tad -- or providing an adhesive-free edge on one side -- to make this procedure easier for new owners.Otherwise, I had no problem getting the globe to spin, setting it next to a table lamp I keep lit most of the day and evening.I am a little bit nervous wondering if this globe will survive weekly visits by my well-meaning but sometimes hurried cleaning lady. We will see...In the meantime, the only negative I can report beside the difficulty removing the protective paper on the base is the high price of this globe. I think MOVA would, um, move a lot more of these if the price were closer to $100.But the MOVA is the most stunning of these auto-revolving globes I've seen, so if you want one, you just have to pony up. Or get lucky and cash in some gift cards...PROS:* Rotates as advertised, powered by room or sunlight.* Striking design.CONS:* Protective paper on base hard to remove.* Rather expensive.* Delicate and potentially prone to damage.

i really liked this little guy, but unfortunately during the entire time i had it, it was slowly leaking oil, which was pooling in in the nice wooden stand that i also purchased. even though it was well lit, it wasn't turning, so when i went to check it the other day i realized with dismay it was leaking. i imagine it was damaged in the initial shipping. i'm returning it, and hoping will prob try my luck with another, but buyer beware- there is quite a large obvious seam in the middle, which is where the leak is coming from.

Big fan of these Mova Globes. With limit funds, it was hard to pick a favorite.Maybe in a future version since light passes through into the globe itself to a solar cell, they could design it to store some of that energy into a battery or charge the battery using a wireless charging design where the base is the wireless charger. Then when the ambient light is low or dark outside the globe, then the globe would light up evenly internally as it spins, kind of like a night light effect.Anyhow I am happy with what I have. I bought one for me and one for my Dad.

We just received the globe. My wife thinks it is the greatest thing around. We are planning on buying one for our son. The only problem is that she likes the antique gloss, and I prefer the blue.

This was a gift to a friend turning 80..I can only hope he is enjoying it .I haven't one way or another

such a classy gift! love the way it spins and all you have to do is provide light. Love it! worth the money.

Did not like the air bubble that caused the globe not to spin. Not sure why some globes are made flawlessly while others are terrible.

I have had it for over a year and still love it. Works in ambient light during the day fairly well. I use a little LED spotlight on an arm for it at night.
