Engaging Story for Little Readers or Newcomers to the U.S.
I love everything that this Ugandan author has written! As an ELD (English Language Development) Teacher in Sacramento, CA I am always looking for books that are culturally relevant and reflect my students. This first boardbook by Cathy Kreutter did not disappoint! The book is engaging and predictable enough to hold my 2 year old daughter’s attention. At the same time, there is enough text on each page to challenge my 4th and 5th grade students who are new to the country. I love the Counting Pattern embedded in this book and the fact that it goes up to 10 and back down to 1 again. The illustrations by Faith Kisa are bold, vibrant and fun, while providing an accurate glimpse into Ugandan daily life. I will definitely be purchasing more copies for my classroom library, as I’m sure this is sure to become a favorite (and my toddler won’t let this copy go with me to school!)

A Great Book with embedded math!
This book accurately portrays life in many nations. From the mosquito net on the bed, to the water can in the bathroom. I learned many small things. A baby would love it for it's illustrations and bold numbers and colors. I loved it to share with an elementary class of students to present a different way of life. I will be buying more!!
