Duplex Ultimate Sharpener

I bought this with the hope that it would actually sharpen my garden tools (pruner, lopper, etc) rather than just make them a bit less dull than other sharpeners I've tried. Absolutely amazing! It restored a 10 year old pair of pruners to sharper-than-new condition! I then tried it on a pair of loppers where the blade was folded over where I accidentally hit some wire. Filed off the damaged part with the diamond paddle side, then sharpened it with the convex side. Again, better than it was when it was brand new!Istor makes three models of this sharpener. They all work the same - the differences are in size and whether it has a file. The base model is fairly small, but also quite inexpensive. Good choice if you have small hands. The middle model (I think they call it the Professional) is a bit larger, and more comfortable to use. The sharpening end is also a bit larger than the base model. This model, the Duplex, adds a diamond coated file (the flat paddle side) which is perfect for re-grinding blades that have been damaged or nicked. Very easy to use -- just draw it across the blade.I think this model is the best one for gardeners, since it's not uncommon to nick or damage a blade, and the file will let you grind out the damage before putting an edge on. If you're looking to sharpen mainly knives and scissors, either of the other two models will work well at a lower cost.If you want a sharp edge, get this!!

This item comes with no instructions and it is NOT self explanitory. I made my best guess and got the job done, but so far as I know, I may be ruining the sharpener.

Have used this to sharpen all of my pruning shears and pocket knives. Its has worked very well. Although it is a bit pricey, it does a good job and I am pleased.

My wife has been using her garden snippers for probably 20 years without sharpening them. But the Felco tools are not to be trifled with, and while it had lost its edge so to speak, it was still in perfect working condition. We bought the Istor a few weeks ago, watched a couple of quick videos on YouTube, and now her snippers are back to new or better than new. And the difference when it comes to pruning shrubs and trees is immediately evident. The sharpener is very easy to use (some reviewers have noted the lack of instructions...I'm not really sure you need any), easy to clean, and very solidly built (everything you'd expect from Felco). I'm going to put it to the test further on my lawn mower blade this weekend.

I have three of these in two different houses and a boat. Works great in the kitchen and tools, particularly great on my heavy machete.

This has become one of my favorite little tools...easy to use to sharpen my knives and comfortable in the hand.

The process is so different than any other sharpening technique I have ever used. The simplicity of it is out of this world. Having confidence that it really is that easy took more time. I have used it on large shears, garden tools, axes, machetes and the edge on each utensil have been sharp and lasting.I still like to sharpen other ways but this fits in your back pocket and is great to get you to the end of the day.

I watched a video on how to sharpen my hedge clippers, lopers, etc using this tool. It worked very, very well, would definately recommend it
