Designed in collaboration with the US military and renowned for outstanding performance and reliability, the APEKS RK3 is a rugged thermoplastic rubber fin featuring an over-sized foot pocket to accommodate dry suit boots and a spring strap for easy donning and doffing. The RK3 is available in three sizes of medium, large and super. APEKS didn't give the RK3 fin a shoe size range as this can be very misleading. The environment that an RK3 is used in will tend to dictate the size of fin that you need, for example do you dive in a warm environment wearing wetsuit boots, or are you walking across pebbled beaches and wearing a dry suit and rigid dry boots? Both forms of footwear may be a size 9, but will take up different amounts of space in the fin foot pocket. Therefore, APEKS recommend that you visit your local dive store and try the fins on with your own footwear, just to ensure that you're getting the right fit for your style of diving. Based on one of the first vented rubber fins sold in North America and popular among military and professional divers. Compact, and ultra-rugged for use in harsh environments. Improved foot pocket with spring straps for ease of use with cold hands or thick gloves. The design has been the standard gear issue fin for military, special ops, coast guard and public safety divers for decades. Short wide blade provides maximum forward thrust while maintaining great maneuverability. Vented blade design reduces resistance on the upstroke and

They would be better if they had Bluetooth
I got these fins to replace my Cressi spits that I had for years and finally started cracking. The Apeks are very nice, Just a tad shorter but wider so I can fit them on my roll on bag. Performance is great. Better than the Cressis and I was just down in mexico with them for a week and was kicking like a madman doing some large wildlife photography. Not only could I keep up with the big fish (well as much as a human can) but they were very comfortable and no sore spots, blisters or anything. I also really like the spring straps and it's easy peasy. And there are little holes where you can take them off and clip them to your BC which is huge when you are exiting the water with a large camera in rough seas.

But I do like the idea of the shorter fin because I do ...
I really wanted these pair but I'm usually a women's 8.5/9 in sneakers and heels because I have a wide foot. Even with the booty size 8 women's (7 men's) the Medium was way too big for me and they don't make a smaller size, and I think these are only made for men. But I do like the idea of the shorter fin because I do not have the strength to paddle long strokes, if they made a smaller size I think these would have worked out perfectly for me. I really wanted them because of the spring around the heel, I ended up with the stretchy string ones that worked out really well because the adjust straps are not easy to put on in the water and I lost a pair of the adjustable strap ones when I got caught in a rip tide, not sure if the springy or stretchy string would work well but the spring ones my boyfriend had worked well for him, he didn't lose his, anyways, point being, if you're going to put your fins on, on land, then the adjustable strap ones are fin, on a boat when you wet your foot the closed heel work ok but you dont have booty, but the open heel spring/stretchy string work well if you have to walk over rocks from shore to get to ocean and then you have to put them on in the water. One thing my boyfriend mentioned about the spring, they can't be replaced where the stretchy string ones can be replaced if needed. Not sure why they would need to maybe they loose elasticity over time.

Very good fin and strap
Very good fin and strap. I'm a commercial diver. I changed to these from the ScubaPro Jet fins. I dove them for twenty years, super durable compact fin. I was looking for some more heel protection so I tried these. They do help protect the heel of my booties but the rubber isn't as durable as the tried and true ScubaPro Jetfin. They seem to scar up easier but less than other fins. The ScubaPro Jet fin is still champ in durability. I will say the stainless spring strap is amazing. I've been using the RK3s for about 8 months now and no failures or tears yet. I hope they can hold-up to the abuse of commercial diving because I like the extra heel protection. We will see.If your a sport scuba dive, this purchase is a no brainer. You will get your money's worth out of them for sure.

Commercial grade
I clean boat hulls and do dive work for a living. These things are heavy, tough, not too big, and will propel you like a rocket. If you're serious about diving and want a tough, performing, commercial grade fin then I would highly recommend. If you're wearing shoes or boots and are over a size 10 mens, I would suggest the super size. I'm a size 12 and wear shoes with my super x's and they fit well.

Lightweight and powerful
I used to use heavy Hollis F1's as training wheels when learning how to drysuit dive...then I graduated to these lighter fins once I learned how to get better at controlling buoyancy in it. Everyone has their own preference for fins due to body composition, gear configuration, etc so take reviews with a grain of salt. If you like light, give these a shot. Plenty of power with frog kicks and no problems reversing at all. Used them in caves and doesn't disappoint!

The only fin you'll ever need, well worth the proce.
Fantastic! Hands down the best find I've ever used in all my years of snorkeling and scuba. I needed a new set of fins for my dive class that would work with boots. The spring heel strap all that fins should come with, so much easier to put on, especially if in the water already. I wear a size 9 boot and the Large fit perfectly. 3.5 hours of training the pool and no pain or blisters.

The RK3 is a solid fin
I wear a size 12 shoe/bootie and the Large fin fits me perfectly. Easy fin to get into and out of from the water with the heel spring. D-ring holes for carabener-BCD clip, which I like. I bought both this fin and the SCUBAPRO Go Sport (size: Large) fin to compare and I personally felt that the Apeks was a more comfortable fin (out of the box). I especially like the ruggedness and durability of the RK3 design and again, the spring heel strap is REALLY nice. I've done 5 dives since purchase in Hawaii and I enjoy the overall feel of this RK3 fin. Plenty of power and compact design. It is a comfortable all around fin for my preference. If I had a complaint, it would be that it's not the best looking fin, but it does the job well and is a durable fin that will last awhile and can be used for whatever I want to do.

Order “Super” size if using with shoes or boots!
These have plenty of flex while still giving you the thrust you need. The spring-style retaining band in the back makes them quick & easy to put on & take off, & the holes at the toe & heel make them easy to retain during and after your swim.***It should be noted that if you’re wearing any type of land-walking footwear with these, you’ll need the “super” size due to the height & width of said footwear.
