Excellent for Daily & Emergency Use
I do a lot of Chinese and Japanese cooking. I wanted a stove I could use for indoor tabletop cooking and emergency use as our power gets disrupted on a regular basis for days to weeks by storms, trees falling, animals, and vehicles attacking phone poles. It needed to be safe to use, easy and reliable, and also be able to be used outside or in our large canvas tent. After much research I decided the GasOne Butane stove was the best for my needs. I also checked fuel and several Asian groceries carry 4 packs of the GasOne fuel cans for $5.99 to $6.99. Propane camp stoves are very unsafe for indoor use.It arrived 2 days before storms knocked out our power for 3 days. I tested it and found it's much hotter than my electric stove. It's perfect for using my woks on, both flat and round bottom, tiny to large saucepans and the 5 qt steel stewpot. In a power outage I like to make stir frys, a good, balanced meal can be cooked in 3-5 minutes total, especially if I cut everything a bit smaller for quicker cooking. Bannock, flatbreads and frybreads are also quick to cook. The first power outage after I got this, my husband came home to oil lamps, 2 solar stick lights moved inside for nightlights, a nice stirfry, hot coffee, and fried bannock bread for the next day's lunch. I put this on my glass top stove to use it, the kitchen window is on the next wall, about 7' away, and the living room window gives cross ventilation. This is a fantastic emergency stove.Things to note. This stove's safety lock is set up to use the notch in the collar of the GasOne fuel cans. I don't know if any other brand can be used, but I need to check.Try setting your heat lower than you think you need the first couple times. It's a very hot flame, and setting it between half and high boils water faster than High on my stove, and made the stay cool black handle on the kettle's top hot. I now use it at about 1/4 to 1/3 heat to boil water, lower to cook, barely on to simmer. Uses less fuel too.Even tho our house is all electric, I have 2 battery monoxide alarms in addition to the house's 4 battery smoke alarms. I also make sure a couple windows are open 2" or more for ventilation, even in winter, when using a non electric cooking or heat source, or the one mantle lantern. I highly recommend this stove.Update: Apparently all butane fuel cartridges have the notch and will fit this stove.

Simple and cheap stove top
We recently bought this portable stove top to help grill some Korean BBQ. It comes with a plastic carry case and is perfect for the outdoors, small group parties, and even using it on the go to camping trips. The portable gas stove does not come with a butane gas and you have to buy it separately. Lighting the stove is simple enough - all you have to do is twist it and it will turn on with the ignition switch (you don't have to use a lighter like other stove tops). We've used and tested it for multiple occasions now and the ignition and turn switch is very easy to use and we haven't had any issues in terms of it being unsafe.Hint: this product works well with TeChef - Stovetop Korean BBQ Non-Stick Grill Pan with Teflon Select Non-Stick Coating (PFOA Free) / DuPont Print Designs Technology (GP12)Our rating scaleDesign: 5/5Utility: 5/5Effectiveness: 5/5Noticeable flaws: It was a bit difficult to pop out the canister container, but it just took a little experience to fiddle with the opening to pop it right open (hint: pull the door back a little if you feel like it's stuck). Our answers to the frequently asked questions:In one canister, how many breakfasts can I make (say hard boiled eggs & bacon)?A canister can last you about 2-6 hours depending on the can and what heat you have on the stove (low or high). It also depends on how well you cook your bacon. So the answer is that it depends.Does it come with butane? It does not come with butane gas. You have to buy it separately. Can I use a 13" sautee pan on this stove, or do I have to just use small pans?Yes, you can use a 13 inch sauté pan on the stove.Overall, a perfect and great priced portable gas stove that you can use at home, outdoors, and honestly, anywhere you want. Make sure you pick up some butane gas and you're good to go. We highly recommend!Like our review? Hit the "Yes" button below for it being useful. Great Addition to Emergency Kit for Power Outages
My current home has an all-electric kitchen, and after losing power three times in my first year here, I decided I needed to have some way to cook during power outages, and especially to boil water for tea. So I was looking for a camping stove that would be easy to use, easy to store in my small apartment, SAFE (very important!), and work well for both simple water boiling and for cooking reasonably complex meals in the event of a multi-day outage. I wanted to be able to cook indoors and also on my patio as needed, even in windy conditions. After getting this stove and testing it, I think it will fit the bill. First, storage; it is compact and surprisingly light - I was actually shocked when I picked it up. Some people have complained that the case is cheap, but I think it is fine, especially since I'm not going to be carrying it a lot and banging it around.I tested this stove in my kitchen, placing it on top of my electric cooktop. Because I was concerned about carbon monoxide, I opened the kitchen window and also placed a CO detector about 10 feet from the unit while I used it to boil water for tea.The stove passed my test with flying colors. The CO detector, which supposedly detects as low as 30ppm of CO, stayed at 0 the entire time I cooked. The stove was very simple to use and seemed to have reasonable safety features. It boiled 16 ounces of water from the cold tap in about 4 minutes at medium-high heat, similar to how long a regular gas stove would take.I did purchase the Gas-One windscreen as well just in case a CO problem ever does arise and I need to place the stove outdoors. So far I'm quite satisfied and will recommend this stove to my friends.
