I can't find the version or variation I had (probably stored away somewhere), so I'm going to this one, plus the Mini Gift kit/set (maybe for travel or trips) and the Spiral Draw (from Klutz), which is similar, and I might buy another bigger set. Because I have to re-learn and re-study to practice again, almost every day, because I don't remember, but according to my parent, I used to do well with Spirograph. It's fun and challenging.

A walk down memory lane! I had one of these sets 50 years ago - they came with push pins back then to hold the wheels steady. The "improvement" is a museum putty to hold the wheels down on the paper. They do not work as well as the original pins. That is the only drawback, other than that it was exactly as I remembered as a kiddo... quite entertaining!

Perfect kids gift!

I bought this for my Grandson who just turned six. I was worried that it may be too hard for him to manipulate and use because the age range says 8 yrs +. However, since he's artistic and brilliant (I'm not biased at all) I had faith that he would have the coordination and be able to use the set.I was absolutely right! He loves the spirograph and has made some beautiful designs!I had also bought him a set of multicolored Papermate InkJoy pens (.7 mm) to go along with the pens that came with the set and they work marvelously! Confession: Nana (that's me) had fun playing with the Spirograph as well! Brought back some wonderful childhood memories! Spirograph still rocks! I wish they had the larger "Wild Gears" or similar sets at a more reasonable price. I would buy one for my Grandkids but also for myself! As it is, we'll have to stick with the original set for now.

This brought me back to a better time, with better toys. I had a similar set in the late 70s. But this is tighter and cleaner and with a great carrying case. I thought the "holding putty" would be a gimmick, but it really does work to keep the pieces in place. It's helps you avoid what i've always called "knuckle busters" where slipping just a tiny bit ruins an otherwise gorgeous design. I'm glad I bought it - and my kids are, also. It's really a no brainer to have this for your kids or your days when you simply want to kill some time doing something from a time we've seem to forgotten.

This is a great gift for most ages, I bought this for my grandaughter and she loves it and also my older ones loved it too
